American Oi! Patriots from Boston: The legendary STARS & STRIPES ... it's time to drop the bomb on 'em all... Oi! Oi! Oi!

Hey folks, I know that it's been about freak fuckin' ages since the last post of this one, of the ''AMERICAN Oi! HISTORY SERIES'', came along the way up here, hm, but anyhow, now it's not only really about time and for far too long overdue but also now the time is up, the next one is coming right in through and like announced back then in the days of 2011 this time our journey leads us up to Boston, MA/U.S.A. back to the end of the 1980's and the ly beginnings of the 1990's and its very prominent and well-reputated scenery of Oi!, Hardcore, Streetpunk and Punkrock and its legendary American Oi! heroes of STARS & STRIPES, the - if you want or like to say it so - pure thru and thru Oi! Oi! Oi! sideproject of Choke from SLAPSHOT. I really love this band - or to say it precise: I loe both bands - since I discovered them for the very first time ever back then. A stand alone and damn great band, that should be also interesting for the Hardcore silverbacks out there that know about their roots and heritage. But before we go ahead on futher deeper into the subject of this very post I have some few general words for you all interested in the U.S. side of Oi! music to tell, so here we go...

I've started this posting series pretty much directly in 2010 (more or lessdirectly) when I started this blog as some sort of a resumption of my then pretty much dead printed fanzine of the name of "MANSLAUGHTER FANZINE BAD HARZBURG" and while I don't want to go any deeper into it because the reasons why this blog was born, the "MANSLAUGHTER THUG LIFE" blog, and why not finally a new printed issue came out again some day I have explained pretty much back then with the vey first post ever up here and so and also because this isn't the place for it I will spare me and you every word more about it even thinking about it that this goes now on for already more or less three years in a row makes me a little bit proud not at least because the amount of readers was over all the time very good and pretty high on a regular basis and this all for a blog that offers absolutely no downloads beside some download links that had been already officialy up by the bands or labels itself, yes, I think that's not that bad at all, especially when I have the very weak second half of 2011 in my mind and the very slow restart in 2012, so yes, not that bad after all, and thans very much especially and first and foremost to you, my dear readers, thanks for your respect and support and appreciation, thanks. Also to all the fellow bloggers who linked the blog and the work of me up here on their great sites, like Bernando and his great blogs up there ("THE U.S. OF Oi! OF SWEDEN" - http://usofoiofsweden.blogspot.de/, "VHS-PLOITATION" - http://vhs-ploitation.blogspot.de/?zx=d681035182c8e01e, and "FUCK YEAH!!!!!! - VOL. II" - http://bernandofuckyeah.blogspot.se/), the D.U." crew (http://downunderground.blogspot.de/), the great guys of SUFFER THE PAIN (can't wait for your new demo to finally come out - http://sufferthepain.blogspot.se/), Ryan of CRUCIAL CHANGE and - hopefully some day back to life comin' - the "THE SPIRIT OF YESTERDAY" blog (http://thespiritofyesterdayoi.blogspot.de/), the "CRUST DEMOS" crew (check the great http://crust-demos.blogspot.de/ blog out asap)  and the others I now maybe have forgotten about, thanks guys. So, okay, after this ''global words'' and now some general words about the future of the ''AMERICAN Oi! HISTORY SERIES'' up here. After now something like a full year used to pass me and you by I thought over it all a little bit then and now here and there and after first thoughts go like this should be the final and very last post of this posting series at least for now I finally changed this view on it quite a bit...

I started this series of posts back then because, yes, because of the very simple reasons that American Oi! music was and is and still is and surely will remain one of my personal favorite styles of music ever, as well as Oi! beside Hardcore was and is exactly this for me, my personal absolute favorite kind of music (even not in all its foms), and American Oi! is simply my favorite of it, period. Over the first two years I started to want to go more and more into some sort of a somehow ''complete'' and especially chronological affair... and this was in contrast of what I wanted to do in the first place... just post the bands that mean the most to me and pay them some honour, or at least try to do so, and now that's exactly what I will do from now on again. Giving a fuck about any correct timeline and also not trying to be anyhow ''complete'' up here, just paying tribute and giving some honour to my own personal favorites and so especially this post about STARS & STRIPES is a great restart that could not had been anyhow better, it's great, period. Anyone looking out for some pretty complete, of course always subjective, not chronological and very frequently ongrowing and very deep going detailed overview on the U.S. of Oi! should go to the already above mentioned great "THE U.S. OF Oi! OF SWEDEN" blog (http://usofoiofsweden.blogspot.de/) and will find a lot to discover and there also including downloads of all the stuff. So, okay, the diretion is now that I don't know what will come up next, maybe again a band of the golden 1980's, or one of the amazing and legendary 1990's of American Oi!, or one of the militant first decade of the 2000's or maybe also a current active band, we will see how the story finally will go on. This means not that the posts so far had been done at least partially just for the record or history books or so, no, from U.S. CHAOS to DOC. MARTEN (the so far last entry of this very series) it had been favorites of mine that found their place up here, some more, some less, for sure, but they all have a special place in my record collection. But I headed to realize a more ''complete'' and especially chronoligal done approach and this I decided to cut and return to the original idea behind this posting series, so this is all meant. So, okay, after I used to figure this out for myself I am finally pretty curious about continuing this very posting series here again, and even I don't have a clou how frequently and regular new posts of it will after this one later on again come up here I hope and think that the posting pause in this category won't take a year again, trust me upon this. Btw, and I'm also very happy that now with this post finally again something with more weight is coming up here again, not only reviews of records, zines, and movies, not only video postings or some news lines or so, no, finally something more is coming up here again, and you know what, it's pretty overdue, at least if you ask me. And now onward with this post...

STARS & STRIPES - "SHAVED FOR BATTLE"

Okay, so here we finally go again, "Oi! Oi! Oi!" and so it goes: The legendary and infamous SLAPSHOT had been alredy around for quit a while when around 1989 Choke and some of his friends decided to start a thu and thru American Oi! band and so it happened that one of the very best ever and also one of the most controversial and most hated and heavily discussed bands ever saw the light of the day, the almighty STARS & STRIPES. The rumors go that they recorded under this name because they did music that would not had been tolerated or accepted under the name of SLAPSHOT, so they named it all STARS & STRIPES. After SLAPSHOT had always been a at least controversial and surely not politically correct band (but had also never been anyhow a bullshit anyway WP/NS/what-so-ever crap band, lightyears away they had been and are from this retarded scumbags, even most of the whole oh so brave german AFA nutjobs as well as a lot of the brain- and buttfucked NS/WP idiots over here refuse to understand this simple thing) I think this interpretation is pure bullshit, even music-wise STARS & STRIPES are clearly an Oi! and not an Hardcore band, that's also pretty damn clear. The legend goes that Choke always loved Oi! music right from the start (listen to SLAPSHOT and you get this pretty clear as well) and so he found in Jordan Wood (a.k.a. Griggs) and Andy MacKaye two equal minded friends that thought and felt the same way and so STARS & STRIPES were born. Like they should sing it shortly after this in their anthem "AMERICAN Oi!" where the words went respectively go like this:

STARS & STRIPES - "AMERICAN Oi!"

They took what they loved and made their very own U.S. American Oi! thing out of it. STARS & STRIPES started playing and writing their first songs and soon they should release their debut record, the 7'' single "DROP THE BOMB", headlined by the infamous anthem "DROP THE BOMB", a brilliant song that should hurt their reputation pretty much at least in the ranks of the self proclaimed leftwingers and P.C. appeaser cowards. But thankfully they gave and give a fuck about it and them. No matter if you like this offending lyrical assault about bombing the middle east to solve the terrorist problem once and for all, but even some might can discuss about the words it sung in, but hey, it's Oi!/Streetpunk/Hardcore/Punkrock musick and no Shakespeare lyric stuff, and maybe some could also dislike and refuse to agree on what they sing about and discuss the by them proposed solution to this topic but if you like it or not you can't deny that they hit the nail right on its head, and I bet that deep down inside you can't silence the voice that knows and tells you that they were and still are  totally right with this... and last but not least no one cared and still no one cares that even MANOWAR back then used to know and sing this as well. But maybe it's just the old story again, that goes like if Skinheads sing about things like this in a drastical militant and non-P.C. way then they are all promptly labeled Nazis and Fascists and scum like this, but when - for example - a bunch of leather wearing Metalheads sing about the same topic in the same way no one cares because they are allowed to do so because of their long hair, clothes in shining leather, and stuff like this, hm, or something like this... it sucks... so better don't care about it and just forget about it as well, point and fact. (But, btw, the mentioned MANOWAR song is a true anthem as well, and even far more non-P.C. than the one STARS & STRIPES had done, haha;-)!!!) The "DROP THE BOMB" single was a two song - or should I better say a two anthem - release,with the title track on Side A and the great also pretty patriotic "TIME TO LIVE, TIME TO DIE" on Side B of the single album release. Both songs are damn anthems and totally larger than life, and so it won't make anyone wonder about the fact, that "TAANG! RECORDS" took both songs and used them as bonus tracks on the rerelease of their amazing "SHAVED FOR BATTLE" debut album (primarly released in 1989 as well as the 7'' single) back then in 1998. Btw, the 7'' single "DROP THE BOMB" was released on the legendary and for all what I think to know today sadly enough pretty dead "VULTURE ROCK RECORDS" label and this, yes, like already mentioned, in 1989.

STARS & STRIPES - "NOTHING TO FIGHT FOR ANYMORE"

This, their debut album, "SHAVED FOR BATTLE" was also released in 1989 and this on Chokes very own label "PATRIOT RECORDS". There also a great act like FORCED REALITY released their stuff, also one hell of an amazing band that will also become a part of this "AMERICAN Oi! HISTORY SERIES" up here one day, as well as the roughnecks from Boston in THE BRUISERS that for all what I think to know also were on "PATRIOT RECORDS" for a while back then and will also one day become a - prominent - part of this very posting series up here, I'm just looking for some sources to get some proper informations about them both from some reliable ressource(s) - what is especially in the case of FORCED REALITY pretty hard (so if you have some stuff to or about them just drop a line and get in contact with me). Time will tell, back to the topic. With this album they took the aggression and heat and tension and decided to piss all the mentally amok running folks even far more off, with militant and battle-scarred patriotic lyrics that are also clearly aimed against all scumbags, against liberal appeasers and conservative traitors and of course against commie activists and this whole ''djihad-ists" out there, pro veterans and pro nation and constitution... and this was and is enough for some mentally retarded nutjobs to also often still somehow labe them as Fascists, Nazis, Racists and a thru and thru hate band of the far right. Too many bullshit idiots out there, period. This album is very outspoken and patriotic, militant and also for sure filled with some aggressive conservative views, no doubt about it. Also no doubt that they meant and still mean it all very serious. But also this album is so far over the top and ironical as well as self-ironical that it's pretty clear that it is also in parts a pretty open exaggeration of all what they got attacked with, also no doubt about it. If you are into SLAPSHOT and Chokes lyrical work you know that he's a master of this tongue-in-cheek exaggeraion and knows to work with this to its perfection. And so he does or did with STARS & STRIPES. As far as most of the critics on this album don't get this also a lot of the supporters of this album don't get this as well. It's a great thing to keep this true and real and authentic attitude and deliver the message as well as make jokes out of yourself and your supporters as well as critics that don't get the point and also include a self-ironic approach to it. Brilliant!!! That's, beside the phenomenal music, is why I love this album so incredible very much, a groundbreaking album, lyrical and musical, period. Back then during their original or first stint as a band STARS & STRIPES only played one single live show, together with the other American Oi! legends in FORCED REALITY and their Boston mates of THE BRUISERS. For this show they needed to recruit some friends to their ranks and the flyer to this legendary show you can see somewhere above in this very post. After this short period it should become more and more silent around STARS & STRIPES and pretty soon they went seperate ways for many years. But their legend and legacy became more and more immortal and lived on around the world and every Oi! addict knew and know that they created one hell of an stand-alone groundbreaking album. And all had been left desperately waiting and being left thirsty/hungry for more and demanding for it... Btw, like already above mentioned, in 1998 their debut was finally rereleased via "TAANG! RECORDS".

STARS & STRIPES - "HERE'S ONE FOR THE LADS"

Lyrically and musically this was some sort of the end of the first era of this band named STARS & STRIPES - surely more was just about to come but it took one hell of a long while before so - with creating hard knocking, fury stomping and heavy beating Oi! music full of hard, sharp, dry and just heavy and pretty diverse guitar work, rumbling bass and military style storming drumming. And above all throned Chokes amazing and incredible characteristic and hard and smart, pissed off lead vocals, backed up by some healthy doses of massive back up chants. Only a very slightly Hardcore influence is to be noticed and the songwriting as well as the skilled playing of the instruments had been and still are damn fucking bloody great, and for miles far above your average run of the mill bullshit wasted on a drink pseudo "Oi!" music. In every way a truly groundbreaking album, I would proclaim it a "decade making album" if you know what I want to say with this words. I think to the lyrics and their lyrical approach I already said or written enough  and so I will spare me the words here and now. Instead of this we will go on in time and history, because the time of STARS & STRIPES wasn't back then in 1989 already ran out through...

STARS & STRIPES - "SKINHEADS ON THE RAMPAGE"

It should take thirteen years for STARS & STRIPES untill they should come together again in 2002 when Chris Lauria rejoind SLAPSHOT and with them also refiring STARS & STRIPES where he now should play the bass and the band decided to come back, recording a new full length album that should be finally released in 2004 on "I SCREAM RECORDS", announced right after the release of the brilliant "DIGITAL WARFARE" (''comeback'') album of SLAPSHOT. To point it out and say and set it straight right from the start: I love this album of the very name of "ONE MAN ARMY"!!! They got a lot of heat for or because of this album, again you might can say, but this time not because some clueless retarded weak hearted felt offended by the political lyrics and its messages (beside some AFA nutjobs who will never get it in their selfrighteous way of living their lies called lifes), but because a lot of guys attacked them because they refused to make a "SHAVED FOR BATTLE" Vol. II. But insetad singing again over the top patriotic Skinhead anthems they rather decided to sing also damn self-ironical Hooligan hymns, and this was too much for all the self-proclaimed ''die hards'' and ''hard knocks'' out there. The lyrics were great, point and fact, especially the self-ironical-exaggation was and is totally great again and also the lyrics are damn authentic especially if you keep in mind that Choke pretty much surely never was involved in a real Hooligan gang fight. Also musically they changed a little bit the direction, and while the back then very slightly to be recognized Hardcore influence was totally gone they also played it all more a little bit more melodic and with a bit Streetpunk influence in it, but still standing true to their american idea of Oi! and that's just great. Fuck the "die hard" and "hard knock" critics on this album, clear your mind and forget any expectation of getting a "SHAVED FOR BATTLE" Vol. II and you will enjoy this great album. Okay, that it can't beat "SHAVED FOR BATTLE" anyhow should be clear right from the start is not a failure of the band and is making this album not in a single way worse and was also pretty clear right from the start, and so their decision to make something really new was even more right and deserves even more respect.

STARS & STRIPES - "HANG ON TO YOUR DREAMS"

This is it for now, the end of this post as well as the end of the story so far of STARS & STRIPES. SLAPSHOT still use to play STARS & STRIPES songs live on stage sometimes these days and maybe we will see a thrid full length album of this great ''project''-band some one day. I would cheer up to it, for sure. For now I just hope that you've enjoyed reading through this article at least a little bit as much as I enjoyed writing it finally down. Even it turned out to be a hell of a lot of work, haha;-), I can tell you. But that's nothing wrong with anyhow. Closing this article I will very soon give you some more videos of STARS & STRIPES anthems beside the ones already watched/viewed by you or so, so you can enjoy this almighty legends from the States directly through their music, because not at least that's how it's meant to be. Don't know when the next "AMERICAN Oi! HISTORY SERIES" article will follow this very one here up (surely it won't take a year again, to set this straight) and I am also not so sure who will be the next ones that's being payed tribute to up here by me. Here's another band of the name of WORLD WAR 4 that I stumbled upon when I was surfing through the web to find a homepage of the before this one here introduced and reviewed Hardcore silverbacks in WORLD WAR IV from Boston, MA/U.S.A., and so I found finally also beside a somehow crappy Alternative/Grunge/Nu Metal band this cool guys here in WORLD WAR 4 that hail down from Ontario in Canada and play some Old School Thrash Metal that will chop you in half and leaving you satisfied with it if you are a fan of this kind of (Metal) musick, period. This demo is released on tape (or will bes released on tape still this very year) as well as the complete demo with the full artwork is as a name your price download officially put up on the web, as well as you can also download the single tracks one after another totally for free but without the full artwork as well, and this all up on their Bandcamp site and the link you will find at the end of this very review here. To be honest I should have to bury my head in shame after currently I only got it as the song by song download, but okay, so far shame on me and finally going deeper into this whole affair here, WORLD WAR 4 being "RUFF AS FUCK". The band says by themselves that they would play Old School Thrash Metal spicy flavored with some New School Doom (Metal) impressions. So okay, even I don't really know what they do mean with there words about New School Doom (Metal) here I have to say that Old School Thrash Metal hits the nail, add to it a very strong and good songwriting with a lot of fresh interesting ideas and really grapping moments and a thoughtful approach on it varying the pace and the riff and rhythm structure of each song very clever (reaching from fast thrashing mad assaults to slow mo down paced destructive bombardements) and keeping it all pretty interesting and fresh and with this WORLD WAR 4 succesfully deny this whole small as well as very close minded retro crappy bullshit Thrash Metal garbage trend and instead of this they rather deliver a release with substance and value of great (Old School) Thrash Metal that will make your head start to bang and your whole body start moshing and that will remain for sure if its just given the chance to do so, and yes, for this my thumbs go up high, without a doubt or a second thought. Very skilled charismatic clean sung and only very slightly shouted and screamed but still very aggressive and also pretty diverse lead vocals are really the first thing to out shine of the whole package here, then the stunning bonedry and damn hard and bloody heavy multi-layered and diverse skilled guitar work is up next, delivering a stroming destructive riff assault one after another, and giving us also brilliant leads and solos covering a wide distance from melodic and symphonic arrangemens to psychotic and neurotic hectic shreddings. Then the forceful bass and the massive rumbling drumming are up next, giving the music of WORLD WAR 4 the strong and poerwful, beefy and bulky backbone. All is done very smart and clever, filled with damn good arrangements, deliverd by very skilled musicians and songwriters, and all pretty stand alone, and for this also thumbs up. But, for example, if you like the old Bay Area thrashing mad days also WORLD WAR 4 should be interesting for you. After I just got the free download to the artwork and the lyrics I can't say that many, but for what I see from the artwork it's a pretty cool one, and to the lyrics I just can say that it is fucking nice to see again a cool band that's not taking everything and all oh too serious, judging by song titles like "F.T.W.", "DAEMONE", "HOBOGOBLIN" and especially "HUGO: DENTIST OF DEATH", and yes, I really like this somehow humoristic and ironical approach to it very much. The production/recording sound is pretty good, just for the record. So, even I am not really much in today's world and scenery of Old School Thrash Metal this very band here, WORLD WAR 4 from Ontario in Canada, really convinced me, damn good stuff, and hopefully this band gets a fair shot, a good and fair chance in the current Metal scenery, far above average and far above most of the whole Old School or retro (Thrash) Metal stuff out there today, and so I recommend this release to you, so check them out. I like it!!! (8 of 10 points)

Here's a for what I do know a very new band that used to debut this very year, roaring from Boston, MA/U.S.A. and formed by members of the Boston Straight Edge Hardcore roughnecks in xNO TOLERANCEx (see respectively read just right here: http://manslaughterthuglife.blogspot.de/2012/03/no-tolerance-no-remorse-no-tolerance.html) and FLOORPUNCH, and this is their debut release that is officially physically released on Tape (for what I do know) at the "PHILADELPHIA HARDCORE FEST" 2012 as well as for those unable to go there and buy it physically as a official free MP3-Download, and after it's pretty impossible for me to go there and buy it I just have it as the above mentioned MP3-Downlaod and I will give you the download link at the end of this review, as usual in cases like this. I stumbled upon this band thanks to some fellow bloggers in the great blogs of "99 MILES OF BAD BLOGS" (http://99milesofbadblogs.blogspot.de/), the "HARBOILED HARDCORE WEBZINE" (http://www.hardboiledzine.com/) and "AMERICAN AFTERMATH" (http://americanaftermath.net/) and anyhow do yourself the favour and list the three mentioned blogs or sites in your list of favorite sites and links and visit them on a regular basis. And after this whole lot of introduction talking let's go straight ahead onward into this very review of this demo release, the debut of WORLD WAR IV. If you know xNO TOLERANCEx for example you better clear your thoughts and ears a bit, because beside the fact that both bands know about and know how to play really good Hardcore music (and so so) there aren't that many similarities. WORLD WAR IV play some stormy raging sharp edged and hard boiled fresh and lively not (!!!) boring retro Old School Hardcore or Thrashcore that reminds me quite a it of D.R.I. and S.O.D. as well as M.O.D., maybe some very few early PRO-PAIN and maybe the little bit later GANG GREEN with a undeniable 1980's U.S. American East Coast Thrash Metal influence like NUCLEAR ASSAULT as well as old ANTHRAX and maybe some very few old OVERKILL as well, and also some Old School slightly grinding early Old School Skatecore impressions like early SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and CRYPTIC SLAUGHTER are clealy to hear, at least if you ask me. But they do it all very fresh and very stand-alone, no dull and boring retro crap and no copying of anything or anyone, that's how it all should be done, so thumbs up for that. This all makes this demo that's filled with harsh thrashing, fast hitting and sharp cutting skilled hardcoreish as well as metallic great guitar work, fucking damn charismatic clear sung and still also hard shouted lead vocals, forceful shreddng bass playing and stunning fast and diverse and even blasting drums to one hell of an release ad surely a must have and in a only at least somehow anyhow "just" and "righteous" world this demo will soon be a underdround classic with a long life as a legend potential and this band would get soon a very good record deal, and hopefully this all will happen this way. And for now, get this demo, so far the "D.I.Y." release of the year, period. Great lyrics, a cool artwork and first class production sound on top of it as well. For any fans of real Hardcore as well as Hardcore Skater Maniacs and Metalheads that thankfully lack a too close minded mentality. Get this demo, enjoy it, support this bloody mighty band. Great work!!! HARDCORE!!! FIST!!! (10 of 10 points)

Hey folks, here's a little ''Videos'' post giving you some (in numbers two) songs of the german Hardcore roughnecks of EMPOWERMENT. For all what I understood this band used to arise from out of the ashes of TEAMKILLER, but don't take my word on that, not so sure about it after all. EMPOWERMENT currently got some sort of a pretty big underground hype over here in Germany going on around them and so I wanted to get known to them by myself. It was a good decision, for sure. Pretty cool and really strong new tyme old school Hardcore with complete in german sung lead vocals, a very good strong leftwinged and antifascist political approach (even the AFA promotional propaganda in the video of "BRAUNER RAND" ticks me off) and with a nice strong and clear own identity, somewhere to be located between CRO-MAGS and TERROR, and they do it for sure pretty strong and damn good. Maybe the german vocals are strange at first, but I think you will get used to it for sure. Check them out, will be worth it, and just start right here. Btw, the video to "KONFLIKT" is the official video clip of/to this very song, just that you know about it. HARDCORE!!! FIST!!!

A new band from Dallas, Texas/U.S.A., formed by members of END TIMES and HUMANERROR in spring 2012, dedicated to heavy and metallic evil Hardcore pretty much influenced by the "HOLY TERROR HARDCORE" style of the likes of INTEGRITY, INTEG2000, IN COLD BLOOD, FEAR TOMORROW, and ROT IN HELL (and this as far as I can say musically as well as lyrially and also in the artwork this "HOLY TERROR" influence showcases itself pretty clear and very well), for example and just that you get a impression of what's going on here, and this is their very first and also like you see a very early release, giving us all in all three songs in about seven minutes in a great production sound. This seven minutes crush into your face like  brutal swung sledgehammer leaving your face a bloody mess, a sledgehammer of brutal deep shouted lead voices, bonedry and sharpcutting, metallic thrashing pretty multi-layered and incredible forceful guitars, harsh roaring bass playing and precise thundering raging dumming, fast and sharp edged songs but also filled with different styled parts that add a lot of diversity to the already very strong and grapping arranged interesting songmaterial. And btw, yes, this is a very early release by VULGAR DISPLAY, no doubt about it, but it's already also a very strong release by a great Hardcore band that we all should keep an open eye on and one interested ear open on it as well. A very promising band!!! Currently I'm thinking about to do an interview with them in the near future of this very blog and year. Great band, check them out asap, period!!! HARDCORE!!! FIST!!! Hey folks, nothing anyhow ''big'' today, just a little ''Videos'' post for you all and your enjoyment, and a very cool video of a great song of a truly great band, the almighty ANGEL CITY OUTCASTS from the city L.A. with their anthem "DOGHOUSE BLUES" and the bloody cool official video clip of it. This band first came across my way years ago when they released their already really great debut full length album "LET IT RIDE". This was years ago and since then I've lost them totally out of sight without any reasons that I now somehow possibly could name you, but also since then they released other albums and they developed quite a bit and became even far, far better then they already had been when they started back then several years ago with their already mentioned debut release and so I really need to work myself finally again deeper into the complete discography of the ANGEL CITY OUTCASTS. Phenomenal band!!!! One of the very best Punkrock & Roll bands ever. Period!!! Who the fuck needs SOCIAL DISTORTION?!? You got what I want to say?!? You got it!!! Great, the U.K. Brickwall Oi! bulldozers and silverbacked U.K. Skinhead Rock roughnecks are back again, one - let us call it a: - "reunion" that I was really looking forward to and that I truly set some big doses of expectations into. ANd, to say it right from the start, they did not dissapoint me. I love their "WHEN DUTY CALLS" masterpiece, an album of the decade if not even maybe the century if you ask me, and also their works released before as well as after this giant album I really like a lot. This band used to have to eat a lot of shit, being heavily attacked from the organized AFA left and even INFA-RIOT were also thrown into the ring and got heavily attacked and defamed by the european organized AFA left because of the RETALIATOR plus INFA-RIOT colaboration in BALEFIRE. Okay, even I have no sympathys for the "DeKastelein" pub respectively the "Molokko Bar" how it's named today and this whole at least menally incestuous crappy bullshit "LIVE & LOUD" festival scenery around it and I also think that this whole braindead assfucked belgian mostly White Power Rock & Roll scenery established around this location as well with crap bands like KILL BABY, KILL (dead, yeahr!!!), LES VILLIANS, SHORT CROPPED (and don't talk to me about P.C. and not-P.C. when it's just plain and simple open Xenophobia and Racism and Nationalism) and other mentally deranged suspected to be "BLOOD & HONOUR" near bands and folks involved in it I think that it's a huge failure to label all bands that once played there as that, for example in cases of bands like DISCIPLINE (sadly: R.I.P.!!!) and DEADLINE it's simply wrong, they have and had nothing to do with this crap and just because they once years ago played there you make a fool out of yourself if you would label them as this. And so I also won't label a band like RETALIATOR as this, point and fact. And even I personally also think that very often Patriotism is everything but a solution to huge problems of the past and today and was and is especially today very often used, abused, violated and left for dead by the far right I still think that it's not a crime to be a Patriot (if it makes sense is another story and depends also on personal believes) these days and I regret the defamation of patriotic and conservative just right wing bands today as Fascist that became very famous due to the work of brave AFA internet warriors over the last years and so just you shut up and better start to fight the real enemy. Btw, and being critical on the ruling policy and the political instrument of mass immigration is for you maybe not pretty sympathic, but it's more than justified if you look at the state of "the world" today, especially from an emancipatoric working class standpoint, like it or not. And, to close this topic, yes, it's maybe shady and dodgy and especially pretty retarded to wear proudly R.A.C. logo shirts, I know about it, even by myself...;-)... And, also to close this topic, I don't think that RETALIATOR are a WP or even NS band, and so for more I don't really care about it, so shut your mouth and better get a life, point and fact. Just a patriotic and conservative and literally not politically corret Skinhead Rock band from out of the U.K., period. And now, straight back to the topic, this very album of RETALIATOR here. Like I've already said, with this album they are finally back, and how they are it!!! Full of energy, force and power, attitude and anger, pride and strength. Two former (?) members of CONDEMNED 84 are today on board here as well, and today they are even far more metallic than before, sometimes you get the impression that this is Heavy Metal played by Skinheads for Skins and Metals and Rockers/Bikers as well, not just Oi! by Skins for Skins. If you want your stuff pure and true then better step aside, but if you look for hard and heavy and very skilled and somewhat ''special'' musick with a strong mark on Oi! as well as Hard Rock and Heavy Metal then you should really look here at RETALIATOR and you will find what you are looking for, trust me upon this. What I like even more is that RETALIATOR refuse to adopt and promote the bitter poor clichés of the two worlds, that they stay away from this crap, no matter if Skin/Oi! or Metal/Rockers clichés, and do their very own thing. The first totally outshining trademark is the damn strong bloody heavy and for sure fucking characteristic as well as truly nicely diverse guitar work, that really combines stunning and pounding harsh and hard and heavy riffing, exciting organic grooves, great melody lines and really catchy leads as well as really strong and great done, absolutely not off ticking solos, thumbs up. And the pressure and diversity behind and of the guitar work is just damn impressive and really skilled, from symphonic over anthemic to sheer brutal and forceful, aggressive and grim marks they give us all and nearly everything. Then there are the great snotty and aggresive, anthemic as well as damn sheer brutal and above all outstanding very charismatic lead vocals, sometimes more spoken cantillated than traditionally sung, and all done really fucking great, and then we get also some nice broad and fat back up shouts to even add some pressure and weight more to it all. Then there's the massive rhythm section left, and they leave no questions unanswered and no blank space open after all, the bass crushes right through in, buzzing and shredding and sawing full of skills and power, and the drumming is just a military exact heavy and massive stomping and cracking war machinery, and far more than just your ordinary Oi! or (Street-) Punkrock drumming. Like the whole music is far more than your ordinary U.K. Oi! music. RETALIATOR latest today play a style totally of their very own, truly not comparable to or with any other band anymore. Maybe take acts like CONDEMNED 84 and CLOSE SHAVE as well as BAKERS DOZEN as starting points, but that's just all what this band comparisons would be, only starting points for you, nothing more. And beside Oi! and Skinhead Rock you also really need to have also a faible for Metal music, because otherwise you won't be able to get and enjoy this album in its whole beauty. We get thirteen songs in about fourty-three minutes and one is a cover version of "BIG BROTHER" by CRIMINAL TENDENCIES (the precursor band of CONDEMNED 84), and as well as this is far from bad it's anyhow the by far weakest song of this album. Also we get very good lyrics, typical RETALIATOR stuff, also very angry and pissed off, and great heavy and dirty production sound and an at least okay artwork, but there they could have done far better. Anyhow, maybe in the long run this album will even manage it to somehow keep up to their immortal classic "WHEN DUTY CALLS", we will see as time will tell. Nothing left to say here anymore, just that if you ask me you really need to have this album if you maybe should still not have it, point and fact. A great album, period. Cheers & Oi! Oi! Oi! To finish this day now comes a little ''Videos'' posting for you, paying tribute to one hell of a larger than life and damn important band (in general as well as in particular for me personally), no one else than the Straight xxx Edge roughnecks of CHAIN OF STRENGTH, with their immortal anthem "TRUE TILL DEATH" taken from their "THE ONE THING THAT STILL HOLDS TRUE" masterpiece. Very important and also damn fucking bloody inspirational and influential roughnecked Straight xxx Edge Hardcore silverbacks. Awesome band, period. I don't think that I have to say anything more, this is a lesson in history so just sit back and enjoy it. Awesome!!!! HARDCORE!!! FIST!!!

This is a demo release of an to me before this one totally unknown in Sydney, Australia based Hardcore band that I got known to some time ago back due to the great "HARDBOILED" Hardcore fan-/webzine (http://www.hardboiledzine.com/ -a great site that you should check out on a regular basis). DEADLY VISIONS started in early 2011 or so and for all what I understood this is their very first output and it's also at least for all what I understood and if I understood it correct solely released as a MP3-Download (at least outside Australia or something so like this). DEADLY VISIONS are exactly on my page and beside this it's undeniable that they are already a fucking really damn good band that deserves by far more attention then they probably currently get and this as soon as possible. This is pretty modern ultra violent Hardcore with a well dosed Metal influence and clever arranged and good worked out and in Breakdowns somewhere between New York Hardcore in the tradition of first and foremost MADBALL and some let us call it new school old school L.A. Hardcore born and bred by the grandmasters in TERROR, and if the mentioned both bands are on your list of favorites you should make sure to know the DEADLY VISIONS as well because then they will also land on your list of favorites, not at least because even they are pretty clearly to locate somewhere between MADBALL and TERROR they also offer and showcase already a very strong identity of their own and this is just great of them. Heavy guitars blend in with a harsh bass and massive pounding drums, melted together with fat and broad crew shouts and cultivated by very heavy throaty shouted and pissed off spitted charismatic lead vocals, crushing through in with a bulldozer like energy and heavyness level, and all delivered by skilled musicians via very strong songwriting, thumbs up way up high for that. Next time settle it all a little bit more tight and consequent together and work out this great intro track and the rating will be even higher. On top of it we get good lyrics, a forceful production sound and a nice artwork. Get this demo and  support this band. And hopefully someone gives them pretty soon a fair and good proper record deal. Okay, and here's the other Fascist Rock CD that I found some time ago in my mail, and again: Never ask for it and so no saying thanks to anyone for this stuff. But, please, stop sending me fascist music crap like this, please. Okay, onward in this review: This is also a split album shared by the ANGRY BOOTBOYS and the incredible bad PUNKFRONT. Far right wing music of the lowest of the low standard of the lyrical content and the music is what you expect from the greman far right assfucked nutjobs. But okay, one after another. First of all this is a very good proof of how far and how bad it all stands in large parts of the german Oi!, Streetpunk, Punkrock, Skinhead and Punk scenery when a bullshit band like the ANGRY BOOTBOYS dares without any real threatening physical consequences (and I don't talk about the whole AFA idiots outta there) to adopt the old WARZONE slogan "DON'T FORGET THE STRUGGLE, DON'T FORGET THE STREETS" as an intro shout to one of their bullshit songs in which they propagate "PUNKS AND SKINS FOREVER" as being "FOREVER PATRIOTS" (listen to their song "FRIENDSHIP") and when they deny the multiracial and multicultural roots of the Skinhead cult and when they declare the Skinhead scenery and movement as a exclusive bullshit Nationalism-affair and even adopt and violate some SKA impressions (listen to their song "KEINEN BOCK AUF NS HIP HOP"), and above all a brown-black far right pseudo-"Patriotism" is expressed, like in the typical german crackerbarrel scenery of old fat guys sitting in a small local pub drinking theirselves to sleeplessness and spitting and puking out xenophobic, racist, nationalistic, fascist bullshit in fear of their oh so great and oh so beloved fatherland and in fear of the loss of their few percepted "privileges" that are in fact nothing else than a cooky infront of their dog leash to keep them silent and keep them walk in line. Incredible how small minded (not only close minded) some if not a lot folks can be... and still they propagate themselves as some sort of ''rebels'' and still they propagate themselves as Skinheads and Punk, Oi! and Punkrock and oh so "rebellious" fuck this lowlife scum. Okay, the ANGRY BOOTBOYS give us four songs of standardized boring dull and dumb wasted on a drink stereotypical far right german R.A.C. or better Fascist Rock, lyrical deep down below and musical not much better. Singing against drug abuse in the own ranks (pretty funny to see that the oh so proud aryan masterrace warriors sniff cocaine up their noses to get their kicks, huahaha, very superior you worthless dumb scumbags), unity and friendship, against politicians and against the new influences in the ''youth''-''culture''-scenery of the far right, playing to this bullshit singing typical pretty fast yet pretty melodic German R.A.C. (or better Rechtsrock) with some British R.A.C. influences that is simply bad and boring music marked by incredible uninspired songwriting, and so I will spare me every word more about it. Bullshit!!! Oh, but it gets even far "better", next up are my favorites of the oh so "good" if not "great" PUNKFRONT. What shall I write here about them what I haven't written down already before (just read here: http://manslaughterthuglife.blogspot.de/2010/11/soon-most-hated-german-band-ah-guys.html). They give us three songs (the ANGRY BOOTBOYS gave us four songs, so we get all in all seven songs on this waste of ressources in CD format), and still no reason for making any kind of noise because of this band, they still can't play their instruments in a proper way, they still can't write songs (and even when they do some sort of a cheap cover version song like with their second song "HEIMAT" they fail completely and this in a epic way of failing - but at least at NPD festivals they will get the dumb and drunken crowd going on nuts with this crappy "hymn", and this tells it all), their lyrics are still far right open fascist and nationalist utter garbage and like their music as far away from Oi! and Punkrock as it only possibly can be (bullshit Boeotian crackerbarrel pseudo-"rebellious" fast played - because so they can hide their giant lack of skills with playing it all "fast" and "dirty" - pseudo-"Rock" music sung in terrible german) and also are their lyrics still done on (or even under) a more than just very low level of lyrical quality... but still everyone from the left to the right is making a massive amount of noise because of this bullshit band and so I won't join this ranks again and just close this review pretty much here and now. If you want to know more about PUNKFRONT go and read the above mentioned link, all that's written there by me is still damn up to date. A pretty good production sound and a good done but totally utter garabge on the level of semantics motiv respectively artwork wrap up the completly crap content delivered by this two German Fascist Rock crap nutjob bands. And that's it, and now this crappy album will take a ride straight into the garbage can. Utter garbage on all levels, lyrically, musically and artistically, period. And also in this case I won't give you the links to the band- or label-sites, if you want them go and search for yourself for them. I stumbled upon this band and their demo release here some time ago and if I understand/-ood it right then this is only as a MP3-Download release thrown out so far and the download link that I found I will give you at the end of this very review here. I hope that I got this all correct, if not then drop a line (which means someone of the band) and I will take care of it and the Download Link will be done. And after this fery link is not ''mine'' Download Link I hope that it is okay for the guy who done it that I post it here, if not then also just drop me a line and I will take care of it and delete the download link as well. Now that's all, and so with these words straight ahead and forward into this review. All in all we get here five songs in about eleven minutes by STOOP KID and they are a massive heavy bulldozer like Tough Guy Mosh Hardcore band from Massachusetts, U.S.A. that takes no prisoners, and they are already a very, very strong band. Massive and sinister ultra heavy shredding and sawing guitars, a violent and gruff and grim bouncing bulky and bully bass, tight and massive pounding harsh stunning drumming, and angry, pissed off and hard and hysterical screamed and shouted pretty charismatic lead vocals, as well as also some tough gang back ups, delivered by nice and clever songwriting that really knows to give a fuck off about stereotypical clichés and potentially Beatdown Hardcore boredom and so even the Breakdowns really rule your ass off and are some truly grapping and fresh demolishing affair, thumbs up for this. The skills of the involved musicians are also very good and they deliver it in a more than only proper way. What shall I say more, if you like Beatdown Mosh and Tough Guy Hardcore somewhere between WORLD OF PAIN, DOS DIAS DE SANGRE, UNIT 731 and xTYRANTx you will for sure love STOOP KID and their "JUGGAHOLOCAUST" demo. Good typical but not dull lyrics, a very good production sound and a great old school styled (cover) artwork make this demo and this very review of it complete. I hope for more of this band to come out soon and someone please give this band as soon as possible a good and fair record deal. And don't get anything wrong just because this is a very short review, but this is anyhow a truly great release by this young band, period. HARDCORE!!! FIST!!! (9 of 10 points)

This is a 2012 CD EP release of the two german R.A.C. bands from out of the far right released on the open Fascist Rock label "OLD SCHOOL RECORDS" from Germany. I found this CD for that I never asked some time ago in the mail but I don't think that I should say thanks anyway, hm, but anyhow, fuck it, here comes the review of it. Btw, but I really ask myself why the fuck anyone should send me this stuff, especially after also the new split of the ANGRY BOOTBOYS and PUNKFRONT reached me as well by mail (and the review of it will follow in the future), but okay, it is like it is, at least I guess so. SELBSTSTELLER are long running veterans of the musical far righ scene and THE GRANITS are the follow up band of the nutjobs in DONARS GROLL and pretty much more clearer positioned like back then with their precursor "Vikingrock" band, and also the chosen label releasing this CD displays this more outspoken attitude. Both bands deliver us two songs which makes four songs all in all and while I was expcting the most terrible stuff the starting point with SELBSTSTELLER and their song "NU H" is really good. No one can deny that this guys are around for quite a while now already and they really show and prove it. Big SKREWDRIVER influence as well as also a big 1980's strong rockin' and rollin' British R.A.C. like also BRUTAL ATTACK influence in general, full of power and especially the marking guitar work and the snotty and pissed pretty charismatic lead vocals are really strong, while the rhythm section delivers a good foundament of it all. No fancy shit, just straight ahead. Good stuff!!! Lyrically it's against new trends and stuff like this. Nothing really ''evil'' to find here anyway. Then comes the second song of SELBSTSTELLER, entitled "ZURÜCK NACH HAUS'", a song promoting the home coming or backdrawel of the armed forces from out of the shithole named Assghanistan. What ever your personal standpoint on this topic is they sing here about a very prominent and current issue that is heavily discussed from the left over the middle to the right in the complete society, politics, culture and media, so also nothing really ''evil'' here anyway... or to say it more precise, if you should not know where this bands politically stands you won't get it from out of this two songs, good and clever work on the lyrical front, so at first sight no outspoken far right crap if you not take a deeper look at it and if you not know where this very band stands. The song is musically by far not that strong like the opener but also by far better than what shall be coming after this two songs. A slight SKREWDRIVER influence again, but far more influenced by melodic German R.A.C. of the old School (especially the verses) and also by "Party" German Punk, pretty melodic stuff and really a nice sing a long refrain. Good guitar work, again good vocals, as well as also a nice rhythm section at work. Nothing fancy, straight ahead R.A.C. sound. For sure some stupid nutjobs of the intellectual and mentally incestous far right, but this songs are one really good and one at least solid song, no doubt about it, and then are coming THE GRANITS... And while already DONARS GROLL used to suck now with THE GRANITS the involved band members really cultivate it to suck and crown it with this crap. Wasted on a drink dull and dumb lead vocals, a lot of by far over stretched "Ah-Ha" an "Oh-Ho" backing ups, typical boring galloping drumming, a weed pulling bass playing and boring punky guitar work without charmé or ésprit, also very old school or better retro German R.A.C. that sounds like a very melodic HKL version blended with the fast punky drinking songs of ENDSTUFE. And it sounds damn boring and dull, cheap bullshit. And the lyrics are utter garbage, dumb ass blinded "love your land" and "be proud of your heritage" pseudo ''patriotism'' and pseudo ''rebellious'' and pseudo "underdog"/"outsider" retarded cliché bullshit crap lyrics of the lowest standard. No, forget about this bullshit!!! While SELBSTSTELLER take away seven from out of ten points due to their musical delivery (the lyrics you can forget about it, nothing specail or so, and the rest like above already mentioned) THE GRANITS get proud zero from out of ten points due to their musical delivery (while the lyrics are dumb ass bullshit of the first class), and so this CD gets after all three out of ten points. And if you are not a total far right music nerd you don't need to have this CD anyhow, and if you are such a music nerd you are simply reading the wrong blog, period. The production sound is pretty good and the unspectacular artwork is okay. And no, straight away with this stuff and again, this all without say thanks for it. Never asked for it, so what have you expected?
