CHRONOS - "DEMO 2010"

This is something really unique and outstanding, I haven't got the pleasure to listen to something like this here, CHRONOS, for quite a while now. This is the current and (maybe) first (?) release by U.K.'s CHRONOS. CHRONOS, coming (like already mentioned) from out of the United Kingdom, are (at lest for what I do know) a pretty young band and this one here is (again for what I know) their first release. It's coming as a download in brilliant MP3 quality, and (once again for what I know) there aren't any physical copies of it floating around so that we all need to have to stick with this download version here. This "DEMO 2010" was first released back then at the 27. of July in 2010 and the link to download it I will post for ya at the end of this review. By the way, THANX a lot to the great "AVERSIONLINE" blog (http://www.aversionline.com/blahg/), because of this masterpiece of a blog I just got aware of CHRONOS some time back now. They deliver us here four songs (including one intro track) in something around 23 minutes or so, so yes, if ya now may guess that the songs are all pretty long, yes, then you're damn right, haha;-). After a very atmospheric intro track, "BETWEEN GODS AND MEN", CHRONOS do really kick it off. With their next three monumental tracks, "SILVER TONGUE", "EXPECTATION TURNS THE COLOUR OF FEAR" and "GATHERER OF CLOUDS", they really give us some breath-taking stuff of hard and heavy music. You can maybe describe it basically as Metal music, psychotic and twisted-sick, atmospheric and intense as fuck, and trust me, CHRONOS are everything but not your ordinary Metal band, no matter which Metal genre you may now think of. A lot of ambient sounds in it and it all is coming with a very progressive vibe to it. Down paced tempo of the songs, pretty Doom like,  a very intense atmosphere, exciting rhythm structures that really hold a lot of suprises ready for being discovered (just take a deeper listen to the songs, an intense listening session, and you will get aware of a lot of very cool and also grapping elements in it, that you may never have expected to come anyhow), hard and dissonant guitar work, pounding drum playing, and an evil bombing bass work, all crowned by extreme and very emotional screaming-and-shouting-vocals (rarely added are some clean vocals to them here and there), and a lot of ambient spirit to it, that's what you get from CHRONOS, and these guys know how to write fascinating and grapping songs in a brilliant way. And also they fuckin' now how to play their instruments. You may can name them Ambient Metal, maybe... and if ya like NEUROSIS (especially their older and not so 'gaily-arty' newer stuff) then you truly will also love CHRONOS, trust me about that!!! This band has already quite a giant potential to offer and I'm reall looking forward to see a proper and a 'real' physical release being released by them, hopefully a good label will recognize them pretty soon. This is really something special and truly a great release. The lyrics seem to be some truly interesting stuff, as well as the production sound really rulez, hm, and there's nothing to talk about when it comes to the artwork of this one here but anyway... A great release, check it, get it, now!!! (9 of 10 points)
