("Bandworm Records"; CD):
Here it is, my review of the newest PERKELE record, released sometime around by the end of 2010, and now you get my review of it. First listened to it in November 2010, and I will give ya what my damn good buddy 'Tobilicious' meant first listening to it: "Damn, is that good!!! Even it's a little bit too 'poppy' anyhow..." And that's exactly what I could say about it. By listening first to it I thought something like: "Hm, fuck it, it's so damn 'nice', WTF is going on up there in Sverige in the camp of PERKELE?" It was really some hard work for me to form a meaning about this record, and that's the reason why it took so long to get it all done. I always loved this band, always gave not a even a single fuck about all the ridiculous hustle and stupid defamation of the band by the AFA and other braindead deformed spawns of the human kind. Especially their two larger than life records "NO SHAME" and "STORIES FROM THE PAST" are two of the very best all time ever released records, music in general and Oi! in particular. With their "BANDWORM RECORDS" debut "CONFRONT" PERKELE also delivered us a really good record, even "CONFRONT" was in no damn way a rival to the two before mentioned records. And now "FOREVER"... First of all I have to say that the "LANGTÄÄN" EP and the Live Record of PERKELE I've never listened to (both record had been released in between "CONFRONT" and "FOREVER"), and so this is my first new experience with PERKELE since "CONFRONT". That said, after I've overcame my "It's too clean, too 'poppy'!!!" resentments I realized that "FOREVER" is the best PERKELE record since "STORIES FROM THE PAST" and one of the very best records released over the last years as well, again when it comes to music in general and Oi! in particular. Melodic and damn catchy, yet hard and angry, very well-paced and damn clever arranged, very grapping songwriting, and a lot of great surpises when it comes to the architecture of the rhythm and the structure of the songs. You always wanted to know how to melt Rockabilly rhythms and Country arrangements into melodic and hymnal Sverige Oi! and good old Blackpool-styled "CHISWICK" Skinhead Rock & Roll?!? Then listen to this incredible strong record and you will know about how the story goes. Awesome!!! Great!!! Awesome great and grapping songwriting, and fucking good musicians they had also 'always been', thumbs up!!! Fantastic strong and forceful, fucking catchy and melodic and damn hymnal Oi! from Sverige, marked by damn charismatic and smart vocals, great guitar playing (no matter if ya take the riffs, the melody lines, the leads, the solos, etc. pp.) that's really knocking you off your feet and that's also still melting some great "CHISWICK" or old, old SKREWDRIVER guitar notes in its structure, and all is 'backboned' by a damn great and diverse and full and heavy rhythm section, and all the choirs and crew back-ups are really giving you fucking goosepimples, and yes, btw, you can totally justified say that this whole record is through and through one totally ongoing Sing-A-Long, one forward going through and through anthem, and that really means a lot, it's just awesomly great stuff!!! On top of it we do also get a big bunch of really damn good lyrics, a nice artwork and a good and transparent but maybe still somehow much too clean production sound, but okay, you'll get used to it, trust me, I got also used to it and I still like to listen to totally Underground Noise Rock and even more Underground Grindcore music, so you see, if I can learn to handle it there are no reasons why you shouldn't be able to do it also, so fuck it all and just enjoy this fantastic record, point and fact!!! Not as good as "STORIES FROM THE PAST" and "NO SHAME", but it comes damn close, and one of the very, very best records of the last years. Point and fact!!! Get it!!! Oi! Oi! Oi! (10 of 10 points)
