("Old Guard Records"; CD):
Here comes a review of the second full length album of the White Power R.A.C. band from the United States of America of the name of YOUNGBLOOD. Once (back then in the 1980's) formed as the just and only through and through patriotic conservative right wing American Oi! band of the name of THE BOOTBOYS they split back then circa at the end of the 1980's (or so) and went on to form this fascist and outspoken racist extreme right wing band YOUNGBLOOD. I've done already reviews of their two newest releases, "OLD SCHOOL PRIDE" and "PATRIOTIC FORCE" a month ago or so, and after this two records, beside their bullshit politics, really convinced me I decided to also buy their "WHAT WE FIGHT FOR" titled second full length release that used to was released in 2005 via (the to me really completly unknown label) "OLD GUARD RECORDS". Btw, this is also pretty obscure after their debut as YOUNGBLOOD was released back then some-time around 1995 or so, but anyhow. After I already reviewed some stuff of them I think I have said it all what there is to say when it comes to their bullshit political and ideological agenda and so I will spare me every word more about/to it and now straight ahead to the review of this record. After their two already mentioned releases knew (musically and partly also lyrically, dealing with some other subjects) totally to convince me I was really excited about this one... and experienced one sort of a dissapointment. Not that this would be a somehow really bad record or so, but it's just really weak compared with their two current releases out. All played much faster and/but also somehow 'softer' and in a way of a very 'punky' R.A.C. style caught somewhere between the traditional and dead grown ingredients of this type of music and the seeking for ways to give it 'new life', and they tried to do it here with pretty quick 'punky' Rock & Roll influences and elements, also with the try to cultivate it with a bunch of 'catchy parts' and some hymnal character. But it all didn't worked out, not really. You really get some sort of an impression of how they tried to develop their music, something that they managed to do with their two current releases but not so really with this one here. It's all pretty 'soft' and it's nothing that will make you start to think: "Yeahr, that's it!!!", nah, it's pretty solid and somehow some good stuff, but nothing and I really mean nothing and truly nothing more, point and fact. Ah, and- beside the vocals- not really comparable to what they've done on and with their current two releases. If you are looking for some just good pretty 'punky' and rockin' & rollin' (White Power) R.A.C. (from the States) with some 'typical' (what-ever this may now mean...) american sytle of guitar playing and some really charismatic vocals, then give it a try but don't expect too much at all. Best songs are the four cover versions they do on this one here (and this says a lot), two times they do covers of their own old THE BOOTBOYS hits "RICHARD CORY" and "AMERICAN HERITAGE" (both tracks are done much, much faster than the original ones, the heavy midpace stomp is totally gone and with it also a lot of the force and anthemic character of the two songs, even the cover versions are anyhow really good stuff), and then they do also cover "TAKIN' CARE OF BUSINESS" of the great BACHMAN TURNER OVERDRIVE and "REBELLION" of the legendary and just great ELVIS HITLER. Damn good stuff!!! With "HOMICIDE" they do also a fifth cover and it'S one of 999, hm, but that one does really suck in a 'majestic way'... When it comes to their own YOUNGBLOOD songs then "WHAT WE FIGHT FOR" and "DON'T FORGET YOUR DAD" are really great, but the rest is just some more or less only good stuff sometimes hardly above average solid midfield stuff, hm, maybe only "FIGHT TO WIN" rises a little bit above the rest. Lyrically they were far more outspoken on this one here then they are it today, talking about race (and the saving the and fighting for the white race), sing against the oh so evil jews, singing about and against cowardly hiding fence sitters/walkers and demand that these bastards (and so they also point the finger at me, haha, but I can calmy live with it, haha;-)...) should 'take a stand' and join the ranks of the White Power faggots, and other bullshit like this. The clean and clear production sound helps the music not really out, because due to this production sound it all knocks even less and becomes even 'softer', hm, and the artwork (tattoo-style stuff) looks pretty cool, I just have to admit this. Okay, all in all, the totally bullshit and here- still- pretty outspoken politics aside, the four cover versions are great and worth to have them, and beside the two already mentioned 'new' (I mean back then in 2005 'new') YOUNGBLOOD tracks also "FIGHT TO WIN" is pretty cool, so yes, maybe they should have done just two 7'' singles (one with their own 'new' songs and one 'tribute to...' kind of release, for example) and all would have been much more 'fine', hm, but so we do only have a good (hardly above average/solid) release that you can go and check it out (if ya still don't have it and are interested in stuff like this) but maybe better don't buy it without taken a listen to it before you make this decision and also don't compare it with their two great current releases. That's all... (6 of 10 points)
(Note: At first this record should got 7 out of 10 points, because six really good songs and one at least pretty good track are at least some sort of a statement, but after of this whole bunch of songs four songs are only cover versions I really don't think that this one here is a good, a seven points out of ten points album, nah, it won't be justified, that's just making it a solid, a average, a midfield album and nothing else, nothing more, point and fact.)

(Sorry guys, again I haven't found some sort of a homepage or something like this of the band YOUNGBLOOD, sorry, so you just have to stay with my review here, hm, even I still would bet that they once have had at least a MySpace site, hm...)
