STREET DOGS - "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" (2018)

STREET DOGS - "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING"
(Running time: 36:38 minutes; 11 Songs)
("Century Media Records"; 2018; CD):
Hey guys, next post coming up for you and this time if I finish it in time we will finally have another beloved early morning post right here and now and this time you get my record review on the new album of /by the (al)mighty STREET DOGS from Boston, M.A./U.S.A. titled "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" that was released @ the 22nd of June of 2018 via "CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS" and I call the CD version of it my very own. The STREET DOGS were one of my favorite bands back then with fantastic albums like for example "FADING AMERICAN DREAM" but somehow I lost them a bit out of sight over the past decade or so and so "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" is the first new album of/by them to that I listen(ed) in quite a while… yes, shame on me. But, oh yes, the magic and the spirit were right back and the STREET DOGS instantly conquered me again in an absolute supreme way with their "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" titled newest masterpiece that finally made it into my collection again - and I definitely won't loose them out of sight again. But, yes, I have to fasten up the pace here of and with that review here and now a bit if I want to get it done still this morning before I will leave to work and a bit of breakfast I also still have to loop down, yeah', and so let's go: First big surprise for/to me was that the STREET DOGS here on and with "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" only show very slight Celtic Punk/Irish Punk or in genereal Celtic influences, and this mostly or more in the general feeling of (some of) the songs as well as in the general approach of the rhythm arrangements and the compositorial dynamics, and that they turned more and more into one hell of a strong and in all positive sense emotional Streetpunk/Punkrock band with strong rockin' notes and a truckload of surprising, very fresh and grapping, and totally unique ideas (like for example vocal line arrangements and the 'out of that resulting' vocal delivery in a very rhythmic accentuated way that sound like EMINEM would go out all Punkrock) in it all. The STREET DOGS were and still are and today even more than before totally one of a kind and so to compare them with other bands isn't making that much sense at/after all but if you really shouldn't know them or (like me) lost them for quite a while out of sight then let me tell you that today in 2018 they sound like a very stand-alone mixture out of DROPKICK MURPHYS and SOCIAL DISTORTION and THE CLASH with some good doses of COCK SPARRER mixed into it all for all the right reasons and with some strong rocking and rolling Working Class Rock & Roll marks of the BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN kind in it all, too, and with the Celtic roots (like above already mentioned) shine through only in pieces here and there and all done (like also already mentioned but it won't burt anyone if I mention it one more time again) in their absoultely unique and very own way and this done above all also all damn intense, authentic, heartfelt, and sympathic. So expect very intense and grapping as well as very, very anthemic battle-scarred diverse and multi-facetted highly emotional songs that are packed up full with fantastic rousing arrangements and fresh surprising twists and turns quite all along the ride and that are damn melodic and emotional but this with still being damn heavy beneath their surface over all the time and that are filled with highly melodic guitars, very charismatic and absolutely unique delivered/delivering lead-vocals, some fantastic very full backings, and a just pure power and yet sort of very 'empathetically' rhythm section, and this all is creating eleven purest gold anthems here on and with "STAND FOR SOMETHING OR DIE FOR NOTHING". Fantastic, diverse, socially and politically aware and very outspoken lyrics, a drop-dead-gorgeous artwork, and a warm and organic production sound then round it all perfectly up. To anyone into really intense and incredible good music I can only highly recommend the STREET DOG's "STAND FOR SOMETING OR DIE FOR NOTHING" and this massively with it being one of the best albums of/for 2018, definitely, and so in case you still shouldn't have or even know it then by any means, yes, you definitely, finally, and desperately have to change this and this best right now. Get it, period.

THE DEAD DAISIES - "BURN IT DOWN" (2018)

THE DEAD DAISIES - "BURN IT DOWN"
(Running time: 45:51 minutes; 11 songs)
("Spitfire Music"; 2018; CD):
Hey guys, yes, trust your eyes because here'n'now already the newest article/post is coming up here for you already (again) and this time it will be or respectively it is my record-review on the brandnew THE DEAD DAISIES full-length-album "BURN IT DOWN" released via "SPITFIRE MUSIC" very recently this year in 2018, hell yeahr, the 'supergrouped' Hard Rock Monsters from the States and the land Down Under are finally back again delivering us finally again one hell of a load of awesome and amazing through'n'through heavily by/with testosterone fueled, high octane, everything downtearing'n'demolishing, no prisoners taking, and no bullshit accepting, pure Hard Rock/Heavy Rock with any crappy 'fancy'n'trendy dingle-dangle' and this all  of the very damn highest grade of skills and qualities and with a very strong own timbre and note to it all that is here on full-length-album no. # four a bit more modern and with this also more slightly metallic than before. With incorporating a bit more of this modern metallic aspects into their very own sound'n'style THE DEAD DAISIES enrich and also cultivate their music even more than already before and so they also add a new and fresh facett to their music that's goes perfectly hand-in-hand with the strong Blues marks that for example and also especially shine very bright through in the phenomenal guitar work as well as with the stunning heavy fresh and organic/natural Rock & Roll grooves and the dustdry and boneshaking 'relentlessly' asskicking dirty Hard Rock Thunder pushing onwards without mercy. Any comparisions? Really? If you are into Hard Rock and you have missed out on THE DEAD DAISIES so far: Where the bloody hell did you spend your last years? A fresh, up to date, headsmashing heavy, absoultely alive/lively and totally stand-alone breed out of AC/DC, LYNYRD SKYNYRD, WHITESNAKE, THIN LIZZY, MOLLY HATCHET, and GUNS'N'ROSES should maybe tell you for the start quite a bit and the rest you should really finally discover by and for yourself, yes, and "BURN IT DOWN" is a perfect starting-point for doing so. Very independently and stand-alone, pretty diverse and multi-layered and especially very rich songwriting full of really, really high intensity and countless amounts of forceful pushing and punching high octane energy and really damn big dynamics that carry the songs forward and without any regrets down the dusty and dirty desert-highway that's massively studded with a lot of grapping curves, exciting variations of diverse and different paced sections, and grapping twists'n'turns all along the ride, hell yeahr, and all really excels with a very strong own and highly rousing character and with a all the time very hymnal and anthemic approach full of fresh and cool approaches and ideas, yes, that's how it should be done, point and fact. Here is really and truly anything'n'everything damn outstanding intense and so far away from anything only slightly boring or ordinary that it is nothing else and also and especially nothing less than sort of a pure nearly groundbreaking pleasure to listen to THE DEAD DAISIES' "BURN IT DOWN" time after time again and again. The smoky and crisp intoned, full and pretty heavy and yet all the time melodic and clean and just really outstanding sung lead vocals and the phenomenal and rich and really in all departments incredible excelling guitar work surely are the biggest trademarks of THE DEAD DAISIES and this also here on "BURN IT DOWN" but the loud and powerful mighty strutting bass playing and the very mighty and forceful thunderous punching drumming are in no way inferior. Strong'n'cool lyrics, a drop-dead-gorgeous artwork, a thundering production-sound, and a great "REVOLUTION" cover round it all up finally and perfectly up. Like the right before this one up here by me for you reviewed new BLACK STONE CHERRY masterpiece titled "FAMILY TREE" also the new THE DEAD DAISIES album "BURN IT DOWN" right here is also a damn fucking total masterpiece and it is not only another new milestone in the world of Rock & Roll, Rock and Hard Rock/Heavy Rock released this year in 2018 but also another one that will definitely end up very well-placed/well-ranked in my personal best of 2018 list and I'm pretty sure not only in my list. The whole album is definitely and absolutely purest platinum and so I spare me here'n'now any listening recommendations but instead of this I highly recommend THE DEAD DAISIES' "BURN IT DOWN" to you and by any means you should definitely make sure to get it and then play it damn fucking loud, again and again, period.

BLACK STONE CHERRY - "FAMILY TREE" (2018)

BLACK STONE CHERRY - "FAMILY TREE"
(Running time: 52:54 minutes; 13 songs)
("Mascot Records"; 2018; CD):
Hey guys, yes, already the next record-review is here and now aimed at you, yes, and this sort of like again after one more too sweaty and too heated night… hot time, summer in the city, I guess… and here and now you get my record-review on the (brand)new BLACK STONE CHERRY full-length-album titled "FAMILY TREE" released still sort of pretty recently this year in 2018 via "MASCOT RECORDS" on a beautiful desgined digi-pak CD (and pretty much also on LP I would guess). I discovered them sort of just last year or two years ago or so with their phenomenal 2016 full-length-album masterpiece "KENTUCKY" and so I was more than only a bit curious when I finally got aware of that "FAMILY TREE" was released and, oh hell yeahr, that huge curiosity of me, myself, and I was far more than justified because with "FAMILY TREE" BLACK STONE CHERRY in 2018 absolutely remained on the fantastic and incredible high level of skills and qualities they have reached and conquered with "KENTUCKY" and they even enriched and varied it all even more. Compared to/with "KENTUCKY" the first impression that you get from/of "FAMILY TREE" is that it's far more colourful and that it shines in a by far more warm(er) light (at least that was my first impression) and this first impression only grows stronger when you then finally listening to it. A real monster, a true beast of an album with a very huge own identity, filled with huge and big valuable loads of nutrious fresh ideas and that's massively bubbling over with life. The Classic Rock and/or Vintage Rock influences grew very big this time and are massively enriched with very strong (also sometimes tribalistic arranged) Soul marks and cultivated with very strong and damn cool and very present Gospel inspired (or so it seems to me) passages that give the songs and the whole album not only a very special and damn own and unique character and identity but also a pretty different and with that also a very colourful and soulful timbre and all is melted together by phenomenal songwriting full of exciting twists and turns and filled with tons of ironclad-like grapping moments and filled with very diverse arrangements and an in general highly multi-layered and multi-facetted compositorial approach of writing and delivering songs with a very 'rousing mind-set' and filled to the maximum with high octane energy and marked by very strong and alive-lively dynamics as well as the incredible huge ability to write and create with each and every song a through'n'through damn hymn and each as exciting, grapping, rousing, touching, and interesting as the other, oh boy, fantastic, and all done'n'delivered by masterly skilled musicians (as well as songwriters). All is marked by highly charismatic lead vocals, highly diverse and really bright and loud singing guitars, a warm and yet perwful and loud walkin'n'talkin' bass, really powerful punching drumming, and all is enriched by very intense and atmospheric backing choirs and brilliant keyboard and organ parts, various horns, and a breath-taking percussion section. It's just absolutely larger than life and damn groundbreaking and just a damn rich and a highly diverse total masterpiece of an album, one of the strongest of and in and for 2018 for sure, with a totally unique character so that any band comparisions are at the end of the day sort of nonsense, yes, but if you really need some other names then you can loosely find BLACK STONE CHERRY's "FAMILY TREE"  standing on a very independently position somewhere between LYNYRD SKYNYRD, the BLUES PILLS, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, and BRAND NEW SIN as well as we all probably won't get an album like "FAMILY TREE" that soon again with bringing Alterantive/Modern Rock and Classic/Vintage Rock so perfectly and easy flowing together so that fans of for example NICKELBACK will love it as well as also fans of for example LED ZEPPELIN will also love it anyhow, too. Nothing but an incredible fantastic and an absoultely outstanding album, an amazing one, yes, that's it what BLACK STONE CHERRY's "FAMILY TREE" is and all is then at the end of the day made round by great lyrics, a gorgeous artwork, and a perfect warm and earthy production-sound. This is 'highliest' recommended to any fan of true and real and just amazing and outstanding Rock/Rock &  Roll music outta there and if you are in that target-group you should know what you have to do by now and right now, point and fact.

THE OBSESSED - "SACRED" (2017)

THE OBSESSED - "SACRED"
(Running time: 43:25 minutes; 12 songs)
("Relapse Records"; 2017; CD):
Hey folks, yes, next load'n'dose is already aimed and is now being fired @ you and here'n'now this means that my record-review on the still current full-length-album of/by no one else than the almighty THE OBSESSED is leaving the barrel for you. It's titled "SACRED" and was released via the great "RELAPSE RECORDS" (on CD and it wouldn't make me wonder if not also on LP) and this already in 2017. Last year I somehow always missed out on it... why ever, don't ask me any questions… but in my vacation-week this March of 2018 in Amsterdam I finally got my hands on it and took it with me - and this was definitely long, long overdue how I should soon came to realize it. And, yes, you know the story, sometimes life gets in the way of certain things and so it took me again… hm... 'some time' before I now finally come/came to doing this record-review on it and finally bringing it up. But anyway and anyhow and it don't matter if a 2017 or a 2018 release and so now, yes, let's roll: THE OBSESSED were formed back then already in 1979 with their first demo dating back from 1980 and here and now with "SACRED" we have their 4th official full-length-album and the first since "THE CHURCH WITHIN" from 1994, okay, I won't retell their very moving and changeable history over the last 39 years here and now simply because this would definitely demand a proper own tribute post to do them justice anyhow'n'anyway and so just let me state that THE OBSESSED definitely were and still are godfathers of Doom Metal and Doom Rock as well as Stoner Rock and Stoner Metal even they maybe themselves never sort of really used or maybe even never really liked that term(s) to sort of describe themselves, yes, and what I always especially liked and loved and still do so @ THE OBSESSED is the fact that THE OBSESSED always did their completly own and unique thing and maybe term(s) like Doom (Rock/Metal) or Stoner (Rock/Metal) truly never weren't and still aren't of that proper use to sort of describe THE OBSESSED in a proper and just way because they always had tons of, hm, let us name it: good old and Punk(rock) fueled Rock & Roll in their musick and they totally own their absoultely independent(ly) and unique position in the world of Doom (Rock/Metal) and Stoner (Rock/Metal) and standing proud, tall, and strong on this their very, very own position like also for example BLACK SABBATH, SAINT VITUS, and CANDLEMASS did and/or do so, too, yes, and THE OBSESSED's "SACRED" is sort of another manifest of/for this thesis and proof of/for it, oh hell yeahr, and so expect absolutely authentic and honest, heartfelt and also damn sympathic and boneshaking delivered dustdry and heavily 'punky' dirty rocking and grooving high energy and highly dynamic, nasty and snotty high octane and full throttle Rock & Roll with a totally no prisoners taking mindset, varying the pace of the songs and the rhythmic architecture as well as the playful arrangements and the in general breathtaking multi-layered soulful compositorial work of the songs very smart and skilled and smooth and this all the time and keeping it all so incredible fresh and damn  exciting and grapping, yes, so some really, really fantastic songwriting is a massive trademark of THE OBSESSED's "SACRED" and is in its very unique approach and with this amazing powerful and clichée-free and just totally dustdry unique 'desert-sand' tone only a further proof for the total autonomy of THE OBSESSED in the cosmos of Rock and Metal musick, yes, no matter if you now like to call it Doom or Stoner or how the hell else ever, ah, and really anthemic hymns that make you instantly clench your fists and fling them into the air and sing-a-long to THE OBSESSED created and placed also en masse here on "SACRED". Ah, and that THE OBSESSED here on "SACRED" do/did with the larger than life "IT'S ONLY MONEY" a phenomenal THIN LIZZY cover-tune should tell you also already quite a (bigger) bit. And so expect tons of high skilled and very independently and sheer full force dirty guitars, absolutely fantastic and charismatic vocals, a powerful gruff bass, and loud thundering drums that will make you take to highway full-throttle and with full-volume instantly. Thought-provoking and very strong'n'good lyrics, a true beauty of a gorgeous artwork, and a perfect snotty and heavy production-sound then round this absolute masterpiece perfectly up. Any favorites I won't name you because it simply wouldn't make that much sense after this album is completly on the same highest levels of skills and quality, oh yes, even "BE THE NIGHT", "PUNK CRUSHER", "COLD BLOOD", "STRANGER THINGS", "HAYWIRE", "SODDEN JACKAL", and "IT'S ONLY MONEY" probably have to spend the very most time here on heavy-duty rotation, if they want to do so or not, yes, I simply don't let them any other chance or choice. Okay, I think I've said already by far enough, yes, and so I will right now and right here close this very record-review and I can only very clearly recommend THE OBSESSED's "SACRED" to any of you into real and honest and authentic hard hitting metallic and punky Rock & Roll and to any of you into this target-group that why the bloody hell ever still really don't have or maybe even don't know it here's my clear and precise advice: Get it finally as soon as possible and best finally right now, period.

DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL - "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN" (2018)

DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL - "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN"
(Running time: 48:52; 13 songs)
("Sunny Bastards"; 2018; CD):
Hey folks, yes, next load coming up and this means here and now that you right now and right here get my record-review on the pretty recently a month ago via "SUNNY BASTARDS" released second full-length-album of/by DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL titled "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN". Once again DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL were a band totally unknown to me before I got my hands on their newest which means their "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN" album and once again we are now talking about a band that I am now pretty happy and glad to finally know, even "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN" is a bit sort of a 'weird' record because it kicks off after a 'stately' arranged, composed, and delivered intro with incredible hymnal and by crunchy and crispy guitars onwards pushed mid to up paced very 'rockish' German Oi! with some a thankfully fresh and not retro-like done/delivered 1990's spirit (especially the damn great tracks "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN", "UNTER MEINER HAUT", "GEMEINSAM", "ROCK'N'ROLL GENUG", and "ALLES NUR ZUM SPASS" are here definitely to mention) and then more and more it sort of 'tilts' into a pretty much through and through German Rock direction but this (also thankfully) very self-contained and 'independently' with a strong and very own to pretty unique identity and character that shines best and clear through in the sharp edged and heavy hitting yet all the time very groovy rocking and catchy and hymnal melodic guitars that have a very unique tone and mark the songs heavily - and this for all the damn right reasons. Also the in my book phenomenal, very charismatic and very bulky hard'n'smart lead vocals only add up to it all. The forceful rhythm-section backs it all stunningly and massively up. And even when DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL move more and more and then sort of completly into the German Rock sector, with for example the ballad "LEUCHTFEUER" or the sort of melancholic German Rock tune "HOL MICH HIER RAUS", DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL still do (again: thankfully) their very own thing and so don't expect any lame BÖHSE ONKELZ clone, no stale FREI.WILD ripp-off, no KRAWALLBRÜDER copy, or what the hell else ever, hell no, DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL sound all the time completly and only like themselves and this is something that I always cherich a lot and this even more when it's all done not only self-conatined but also (really) good and (damn) strong and with a lot of fresh ideas like here in the case of DELIRIUM ROCK'N'ROLL. Expect damn strong and fucking good by strong guitars and very characteristic and expressive vocals heavily dominated hard smacking and yet very melodic, catchy, and hymnal German Rock with some strong good healthy German Oi! marks in it all, delivered by well-skilled musicians and clothed in rousing and energetic, very dynamic arranged and composed songs that also offer a lot of fresh rhythm arrangements and a pretty surprising groove work. Beside the already above mentioned first five songs I also have to mention the powerful yet incredible anthemic "UNSERE LEIDENSCHAFT" and the high octane fists-in-the-air-smasher "HOCHMUT" that are also total faves of me, myself, and (m)I(ne) on "DEM SCHICKSAL ENTGEGEN". A bunch of pretty good and nicely multi-facetted lyrics, an absoluetly gorgeous artwork, and a crunchy and nicely dirty production-sound we get on top of it all as well. This is a damn good and partially also already fucking great record and I can only recommend it to any fan of German Rock and German Oi! as well after it sits perfectly somewhere in the middle in-between this two different worlds on its very own position. Very well done guys, very well. Cheers & Oi!

GOITZSCHE FRONT - "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" (2018)

GOITZSCHE FRONT - "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED"
(Running time: 62:26 minutes; 17 songs)
("Rookies & Kings" + "D.O.R." & "Soulfood"; 2018; CD):
Yes, here it is, damn it, we're rampaging on loud'n'proud right here and right now going strong in 2018 and then also the glorious boys from the east are back: GOITZSCHE FRONT finally deliver us their newest full-length-album "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" (released still pretty recently, more or less, two months ago right in the middle of February 2018), the successor-album to/of their strong 2016 full-length-album "MONUMENT" (I did my review on it last year up here), and... by the way, I'm currently trying (finally again) to 'shorten' my record-reviews a good bit and so don't you wonder but straight and direct into it all... while "MONUMENT" was (and still is) pretty to damn strong (and this without a single little doubt then and now) in my book "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" easily 'beats' ist predeccessor-album and comes up or is already nearly pretty much 'on-par' with their (at least so in my book) so far groundbreaking masterpiece "...AUS RUINEN", such a damn fucking strong asskicker it simply is, point and fact. Anyone who is bitching around because'n'about this whole and still currently strong going German Rock stuff that is now since a decade or so 'ongoingly' on the rise with bands like the (al-)mighty KRAWALLBRÜDER, FREI.WILD (their new album is a huge surprise, damn it, absolutely unexpected, stay tuned for my review on it), KÄRBHOLZ, and a big bunch of other bands, yes, anyone bitching around because of this bands shut up and read on or read something else, how you like it, because surely there exist tons of absolute bullcrap bands in this genre with maybe more, maybe less shady 'political-unpolitical' agendas but a.) where not and b.) not all and c.) not everyone who has a different opinion than you is 'automatically' a nazi. And with that said and so out of the way: GOITZSCHE FRONT are damn fucking back and with "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" they deliver one hell of a new masterpiece album that's especially in its very own genre (at least currently) pretty much unrivaled. The (German) Oi! and (German) Punk/Punkrock roots are only as footprints still around this days but if you listen with attention you can still get them being proud parts of GOITZSCHE FRONT's DNA as a band and here and there we get also pretty harsh Metal influences (especially the guitars lead here and there in a harsh thrashing manner the way) and (sort of thankfully) the slightly Emo Pop styled influences that here and there marked "MONUMENT" quite a bit are not really to be found here on "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" anymore. Call it German Rock or just Rock or Hard Rock or how-ever the hell else, because that's not that important after all, but what's important is that this is high octane and full throttle, forceful and no prisoners taking, quite a bit metallic and slightly Oi!-punky Rock & Roll with (strong) german lyrics delivered by powerful, full, and highly charismatic 'german' lead vocals (backed up by loud backings) marked by very strong, skilled, multi-facetted, highly dynamic, and rousing songwriting and it's especially just great that the high-energetic verses are as strong as the ultimative catchy and hymnal chorus', yes, that's how I like it. And something that's also exactly how I like it is the fact that GOITZSCHE FRONT has their very own and pretty unique style'n'sound, sounding like no other band but themselves, and that unique style'n'sound they cultivated and enriched even far more here on and with "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" right in 2018. Strong and diverse, rich and skilled delivered guitars, rumbling bass playing, and thundering drumming make'n'mark the songs together with the above already mentioned top notch lead vocals (and also the massive backings), delivering powerful punches full of drive and packed up full to the max with honest and intense emotions and shining with tight atmospheric arrangements. Heartfelt lyrics straight out of life, a pretty cool artwork, and a crushing production-sound round it all up. My favorites are clearly "STREICHHOLZ UND BENZIN", "N.S.O.W.", "DIESE WELT", "HOL DIR DEN AUGENBLICK ZURÜCK", "UNSERE FAHNEN WEHEN", "1000 KILOMETER", "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED", "ICH BIN ZURÜCK", and "IN ALTER MANIER" and this are songs that I honestly love and so maybe check this hymns out first - but also with the other here and now not mentioned tracks you won't make any mistake. Only the (for/to me) too cheesy ballad  "TAG DES REGENS" I totally dislike, hm, but maybe that's just me, who knows. Highly recommended and I'm pretty sure that GOITZSCHE FRONT will have delivered with "DEINES GLÜCKES SCHMIED" one of the definite highlights of/in/for 2018 and so just go out and get it. Cheers & Oi!

DROPKICK MURPHYS - "11 SHORT STORIES OF PAIN & GLORY" (2017)

DROPKICK MURPHYS - "11 SHORT STORIES OF PAIN & GLORY"
(Running time: 38:43 minutes; 11 songs)
("Born & Bred Records"; 2017; CD):
Hey guys, here it is, the final record-review-post for 2017 and this time I thought why not finally do it on the pretty much very first 2017 release that I bought in 2017 (if I do remember it now correctly) and so now here finally comes my review on the current new album of the almighty DROPKICK MURPHYS that carries the title "11 SHORT STORIES OF PAIN & GLORY" and that was released at the pretty much early beginning of 2017 via "BORN & BRED RECORDS". So, yes, if you know me personally or if you know about me through being a reader of this very blog here now for already a little bit longer than you know that the DROPKICK MURPHYS are since the glory days of their "DO OR DIE" debut an absolute favourite of mine and of highest importance for me, hell yeahr, and so when "11 SHORT STORIES OF PAIN & GLORY" finally was released at the beginning of this now already almost gone'n'over year I was damn fucking excited and curious and I stormed the record store and took it with me - and it totally conquered me one more time again, yes, and I mean it TOTALLY CONQUERED. For sure the DROPKICK MURPHYS aren't doing anything revolutionary new on here but why should they and also their delivery is absolutely top notch again and it's so fresh and alive/lively with the typical unique DROPKICK MURPHYS identity and character and still with exciting twists'n'turns all along the ride and much or better highly grapping arrangements (like for example the Country impressions in the arrangements and the delivery of the verses of "FIRST CLASS LOSER") and an even stronger than before BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN inspired Rock and Rock & Roll influence while still staying true to their Punkrock/Streetpunk and also even to their Oi! roots, yes, and that "11 SHORT STORIES OF PAIN & GLORY" is completly filled with Celtic/Irish Folk elements should be clear and should also need no further explanations anyhow anyway here and now. The songwritiung is one more time again highest skilled and nicely diverse while strongly vayring and offering as one central focus point anthemic arranged verses and even more outstanding hymnal sing-a-long refrains that always deliver an incredible amount of exploding energy, honest passion, and heartfelt power and that never get stale or lame. All is delivered by hard rocking and yet very melodic and play- as well as soulful delivered guitars and a rich Irish Folk instrumentation and both elements mark the music and songs heavily, yes, and the same is to say about the fantastic and incredible charismatic shared lead vocals that are also massively enriched and backed up by loud'n'proud crew chants. Then there's the tight and to the point played rhythm section that only adds up to the massive quality of the songs and the music. Great, strong, and outspoken lyrics, a pretty cool artwork, and a fantastic warm and organic production sound finally round it all up. To give you any personal favorites would make no real sense, after all the songs are of the same highest quality grade, yes, and so I spare me any more words. This is one of the very, very best releases that this year came out and this now from january 2017 on, and still going strong. And like the lyrics so's the music, one of the most powerful albums I've heard this year and also in years (and probably also for years). So, yes, I think that's it all, and so if you really should still not have it then by any means change this as soon as possible. Yes, and then that's it for 2017 and we'll read us next year again. I wish you all a great 'year-change' and then untill 2018. Cheers & Oi!

DEEP PUPRLE - "INFINITE" (2017)

DEEP PURPLE - "INFINITE"
(Running time: 45:43 minutes; 10 songs)
("E.A.R. Music"; 2017; CD):
Hey guys, yes, back at work again and this means here comes the next dose for you, my so far right now and right here newest record review is aiming straight at and coming direct for you, yes, and this time it is all about the 2017 full length album of/by the almighty DEEP PURPLE and it carries the title "INFINITE" and was released back at the 7th of April (of) this very year of 2017. "INFINITE" is the 20th full length studio album that DEEP PURPLE created and unleashed at us in their 50 years of existence spanning carreer, and if you ask me this is very, very impressive and also something that we today probably will not so soon if ever will experience again when a band like DEEP PURPLE finally leaves us and by looking at the age of the bandmembers that's nothing 'unrealistic' and also it's heavily rumoured and more or less for all what I got also stated by the band itself that the current tour and "INFINTE" will be their 'farewell-affair'. I first experienced DEEP PURPLE early as a child thankfully through my father who listened to them a lot and especially their larger than life "MADE IN JAPAN" made an everlasting impact on me. And then on a personal level or from a personal point of view also and especially "PERFECT STRANGERS" climbed somehow somewhat to the highest peak of my personal top favorites list. Anyhow, and now we're in 2017 and DEEP PURPLE delivered us "INFINTE" and I finally get it done to come up with my review on it for you, hell yeahr, finally!!! This is a fantastic mixture out of the pretty interwoven DEEP PURPLE 1970's Classic Rock mixed with their more straight Hard Rock/Heavy Rock era of the 1980's with a somewhat pretty cool chilled mood to it all like they established it maybe especially over the course of their precursor albums to/of "INFINITE" and also with some strong classical Rock & Roll impressions to it all and it is delivered so incredible fresh, dynamic, energetic, and with so much power and force and also with so many fresh ideas and cool surprises as well as truly exciting twists and turns along the whole ride that it simply leaves you sort of breathless and with your mouth wide open, yes, listen for example to the absolutely amazing and awesome dramatic growing and intertwined with a lot of great melodies and harmony lines and somewhat oriental aligned "THE SURPRISING" or the phenomenal smooth and cool rocking "JOHNNY'S BAND" that's nothing else or less than a pure Rock & Roll anthem or the fantastic "HIP BOOTS" that's practically Old School Rockabilly the unique DEEP PURPLE way or the absolutely smashing heavy groover "ON TOP OF THE WORLD" with its surely larger than life rousig and  upbuilding tension-arc or the forceful and yet so incredible sensitive and emotional as well as melodic and beside the airy cool yet forceful smashing rhythm structures also with a breathtaking lead and solo work shining "BIRDS OF PREY" or the majestic rockin' Blues hymn "ROADHOUSE BLUES" that DEEP PURPLE do cover from THE DOORS with its special extra in form of the amazing harmonica, yes, to just a name a few examples of the high quality and the absolutely fresh, exciting, grapping and varying arrangements and songwriting in general of "INFINITE" as a whole and each song in its glorious shining uniqueness as well. Beside the varying and diverse and yet tight and to the point delivered songwriting, all done by outstanding musicians, prepare yourself also for a fantastic and absolutely unique guitar work that excel in the glorious rhythm work with exceling arrangements and structures and grooves as well as with fantastic leads and singing solos, too; also prepare yourself for some of the most charismatic and brilliant, unique and best and strongest vocals ever, that mark the songs really heavily; make also sure that you are prepared for one of the best hammond organ, keyboard, and organ performances you propably ever listened to and will ever listen to; also prepare yourself for a walking and talking bass playing of absoultely one of a kind; and also prepare yourself for one of the most smooth and coolest, diverse and precise to the point done and delivered high skilled drumming that packs the final meat on the backbone of DEEP PURPLE's "INFINTE". My personal favorites on DEEP PURPLE's "INFINTE" are "ONE NIGHT IN VEGAS", "HIP BOOTS", "THE SURPRISING", "JOHNNY'S BAND", "BIRDS OF PREY", "ON TOP OF THE WORLD", and the THE DOORS cover "ROADHOUSE BLUES", oh yes, but to be honest I could easily anyhow name you the whole album and each and any song on it because here everything is simply absoulte purest platinum. "INFINTE" is finally made round in a sort of a perfect way with fantastic reflected and also self-aware lyrics, a pure beauty of an amazing artwork (that also comes with a nice little cool "IN ROCK" reference), and a warm and earthy, organic and yet also very heavy production sound, yes, so that here with "INFINTE" you really get the complete package and also definitely one of the very best albums of'n'in'n'for the year of 2017. So, yes, this is one of the 'highliest' recommendations of/by me you get, will get, and already got this year, yes, and so make sure that DEEP PURPLE's "INFINTE" finds its place in your record collection, point and fact. DEEP PURPLE will definitely and desperately be missed 'when they leave the stage' one day... anyhow, make sure to have and enjoy "INFINTE" and all the rest time will tell.

DANKO JONES - "WILD CAT" (2017)

DANKO JONES - "WILD CAT"
(Running time: 38:35 minutes; 11 songs)
("AFM Records"; 2017; CD):
Next round already coming up, oh yes, trust your eyes... even if we will see if I will get it done before bedtime needs to finally begin tonight. And after all this harsh hard'n'heavy stuff taking the lead lately up here I felt like it is finally really about time that some good old Rock & Roll blasts on through again up here, oh damn fuckin' hell yeah, and so now here comes my review on DANKO JONES' 2017 album "WILD CAT" for you. DANKO JONES were before "WILD CAT" mostly under my radar so far... and thinking about it today I have really no clue why the bloody hell ever...!!! Always knew a handful of songs, hm, always liked them, yes, and especially when partying hard on through the nights, hell yeahr, but somehow never really cared that much more... and then "MY LITTLE ROCK & ROLL" was played on my favorite radio station and it was instantly clear to me that I definitely would need to have that "WILD CAT" with me at home, yes, and so it happened. This is high energy Rock & Roll on full octane levels with a very special flavor to it all and with a strong own identity that is maybe best to be described as first class modern & alternative (hard) Classic Rock with a nice and cool fresh somehow modern approach to it. Forceful guitars with a very own and unique tone delivering impressively exciting and grapping rhythm arrangements and just stunningly beautiful shining leads and singing solos, all done heavy, yes, melodic, diverse, and full of skills, oh yes, and marking the single songs as well as the whole album as well as DANKO JONES' music in general in a just very strong way and this for all the right'n'good reasons. Then we have the stunningly charismatic snotty and nasty yet very melodic and powerful lead vocals, fantastic, at the right moments supported by some few loud back up chantings, yes, as the next strongest marking element of DANKO JONES' "WILD CAT". The very present and just absolutely to the point played, very diverse and stunningly heavy pushing rhythm section finally gives the songs the needed final punch and drive, yes, so that this turns out to be pure Kick Ass Rock & Roll and this the first class way. Grapping songwriting, exciting ideas and fresh twists-and-turns all the way, high energy levels and rousing dynamics, yes, it's all here what I want (and need) from my up-to-date and still somewhat classical Rock & Roll, hell yeahr, and DANKO JONES deliver definitely with "WILD CAT" and this in a totally conquering way. Very cool lyrics, a perfect to the title and the music matching artwork, and a forceful smashin'n'kickin' production sound then round this all up in a sort of perfect way. My personal favorites are "I GOTTA ROCK", "MY LITTLE ROCK & ROLL", "GOING OUT TONIGHT" (the über-hit), "YOU ARE MY WOMAN", "DO THIS EVERY NIGHT", "SHE LIKES IT", and "REVOLUTION (BUT THEN WE MAKE LOVE)", yes, so start your listening sessions with this monster-anthems... yes, this would be my damn fucking recommendation... but don't make the mistake to think that the other not mentioned songs would be anyhow bad or weak, oh no, because also this ones damn fucking rock in a total kick-ass-way anyhow anyway. What shall I say more here and now, not much... just... yes... if you still don't have it and if you are into Rock & Roll and Rock then simply finally make sure that DANKO JONES' "WILD CAT" finally finds its way to you and then it's time to set your town alight. Cheers, fellas!!!
