STOMPER 98 - "ALTHERGEBRACHT" (2018)

STOMPER 98 - "ALTHERGEBRACHT"
(Running time: 43:12 minutes; 13 songs)
("Contra Records"; 2018; CD):
Hey guys, yes, finally the next post up here is right now and right here incoming just for you and this time it is on the new STOMPER 98 full-length-album "ALTHERGEBRACHT" released at the 30th of March of 2018 via the mighty "CONTRA RECORDS" label, and yes, the almighty STOMPER 98 finally really returned this very year with "ALTHERGEBRACHT" with a proper brandnew full-length-album after six by far too long years of being absent. And, shall I tell you something, it's good that they are finally back, very good, really very, very good. I listen to this very band, STOMPER 98, now since their "STOMPING HARMONISTS" days sort of two decades ago and every time a new one of/by them is finally unleashed again it's always like the return of a beloved old friend returning to the front or from the front, like you may like to see it, it feels good and familiar but also all the time fresh thanks to new stories and new impressions he has to tell and to give, yes, and so it's also this time again in 2018. What I mean with this is simply that they definitely have their very own unique tone, their very own characteristic sound'n'style and their very own unique character and that this they do show us rightfully so all the time respectively every time but they always manage to keep it fresh and exciting and massively rousing and grapping and so also one more time again right here and right now in 2018 with "ALTHERGEBRACHT". The absolutely alive/lively songwriting is full of incredible rousing fresh ideas and great surprises as well as some very cool and nice little notes/eastereggs (like for example the a little tribute to the almighty SKOIDATS and their larger than life anthem "LAST NIGHT" paying opening riff of the über-song "DIESE NACHT") and delivers massive amounts of dynamic energy that go hand-in-hand with a great work in the departments of the rhythmic arrangements of the songs as well as the pace work of, yes, the songs and also is the compositorial approach in general nothing but fantastic and exciting and grapping, yes, and this all the time on the highest octane levels and this definitely all the damn time and it graps you, it overwhelms you, it conquers you massively and this nearly from start to finish and all definitely showcases nearly perfectly the concise and unique handwriting of STOMPER 98, yes, one of the very best Oi! bands past, present, and (hopefully) future and this in the case of German Oi! and Oi! from Germany as well as Oi! in general, 'internationally', yes, definitely. All is driven forward and, yes, all is all the time further onwards pushed by sharp cutting guitars that deliver a fiery rhythm'n'riff-work without end and that also shine and excel with a brilliant and strong rockin' and rollin' note and approach to it all and that above all are really standing out with massively engrossing melody lines, leads, and solos. The loud'n'proud through the songs strutting rowdy bass and the fantastic highly 'beat-filled' drumming are backing it all nearly-to-clearly perfectly up. Loud fist-in-the-air and sing-a-long-to crew chantings add highest amounts of anthemic character and hymnal potential to it all and the fantastic naughty'n'nasty melodic and yet very hard and cutting sung highly charismatic lead vocals and the fantastic saxophone lines then finally cultivate it all and giving it all the highly deserved and justified crown. Also, something that I always massively like and that you may already anyhow know and that also counts or is to say here is the fact that the verses are as strong 'prepared' or maybe better done'n'delivered as the refrains. And all is delivered by high-skilled and well-versed musicians. Some of the guys with that I talked about STOMPER 98's "ALTHERGEBRACHT" over the last past months have questioned the authenticity of STOMPER 98 in general today and of "ALTHERGEBRACHT" in particular with STOMPER 98 being today in their perspective more of a part-time-project with a sort of everchanging all-star-roster of members and with some of their most prominent members being today far more active in bands somewhere between Rock, Metal, and Hardcore that have sort of nothing to do with Oi! and Skinhead and as far as that may hold some portions of truth, but just maybe, but for all what I can say is that to me this all still feels like a real band and this all still feels heartfelt and passionate and more I can't and won't judge, not at least because who am I, and this also... yeah', let me say it this way: To me the quality of an output counts far, far more than any and/or every conjecturing perception (and that are all also maybe not that important after all, at least if you ask me) and the quality here on and with STOMPER 98's "ALTHERGEBRACHT" is nothing but and nothing less than massive, period. Only the somehow sort of a bit 'too-wanted' and a little bit sort of artifical and placed 'acting' opener "SKINHEAD" is sadly a huge'n'strong down turner, and truly a really massive one, but after this we get twelve incredible strong heavy hitters that massively overwhelm and convince and conquer with "KEINE HELDEN", "GESETZ DER STRAßE", "NICHTS IST FÜR IMMER", "FÜR DEN AUGENBLICK", "DIESE NACHT", "ALTHERGEBRACHT", "WIR STEHEN HIER", and "ALTER FREUND" being my personal favorites. Good and strong and also nicely socially aware and outspoken lyrics, a drop-dead-gorgeous artwork, and a top notch production sound then finally round it all up. A fantastic album that I can only highly and massively recommend to any fan of Oi! and this is definitely one of the strongest albums being released this very year and this in Oi! in particular and music-wise in general, too… I just hope that it won't take another six years before/until STOMPER 98 drop the successor of/to "ALTHERGEBRACHT". But so long, yes, just get this majestic one here. Cheers & Oi! Oi! Oi!

STOMPER 98 - "...BIS HIERHER!" (German Oi! Masters back in 2012 to rule again, from now on on "SUNNY BASTADS RECORDS")

STOMPER 98 - "...BIS HIERHER!"
("Sunny Bastards Records"; CD):
Today I have to go a little bit later to work and so I grab this chance by the head or how you may like to say it and so here comes a new post up here, so here we go!!! Yes, here it is, the new STOMPER 98 full length album, released pretty much by the very end of 2012, and my review on it, up here on your very dear "MANSLAUGHTER THUG LIFE" blog. This is pretty much their first real new full length album in quite some if not many years since their phenomenal "FÜR DIE EWIGKEIT" masterpiece. Since then just some 7'' single affair stuff, live CD and DVD stuff and with the "TAGE DEINER JUGEND" a sort of a tribute album to their heroes of yesterday and today combined with some very few back then new and new recorded old songs and with the "FOR THE DIE HARDS" a sort of a best of album and so since some to many years this one here is their very new very own full length album, and I would bet that not only me, myself and I was damn curious about this album. And fuck it, they not only not dissapointed me, no, they fucking conquered!!! Stomper 98 ISP Göttingen Oi! still fuckin' rules okay!!! About all the bullshit talking about this band from left to right, when the ones call them hidden Fascists and/or Nazi-Friends and the others call them a sell out P.C. band that bows down to the AFA, I won't say anything more than just: It's all bullshit, never had this band been on the right not to talk about the far right and on the same page with all this stupid closeminded and smallbrained radical and extreme neo-fascist racist right wingers, as well as this band never had been a politically correct band robbing through the mud and dirt infront of the AFA to please all the brave and tough AFA nutjobs out there. They always stayed true to what they are all about, a through and through 100% Skinhead Oi! band. Time to get this finally in your head!!! Okay, enough talked about this crap, now back to the topic, the review on "...BIS HIERHER!", the new  baby of STOMPER 98. We get 15 new songs in all, featuring a "INTRO" titled funny intro track, a cover of DER KFC ("KNÜLLE IM POLITBÜRO") and a collaboration work with the new Skinhead superstar and everybodys darling Lars Frederiksen of RANCID and the OLD FIRM CASUALS ("HEARTBEAT"). Musicwise STOMPER 98 stayed on the one side true to their approach of strong rockin' pretty old schoolish yet also very fresh and new kept German Oi! with a strong traditional Oi! influence as well as clear Britain Oi! marks in it, but on the other side they really developed quite a bigger bit with workin' with a lot of fresh ideas and new approaches to the songwriting and arrangements that they hadn't tried before and that really make this album damn fucking shine. All is done just great, marked heavily by Sebis great charismatic young and fresh lead singing voice, loud and proud crew back up chants, larger than life sing a long qualities, as well as just great and pretty advanced, hard and sharp, yet melodic and catchy, and always hymnal and rocking, skilled and approved guitar work, the very present and marking saxophone we should also not forget to mention, it's fucking great. Also the tight and massive drum beat delivered by Phil Templar of the almighty the TEMPLARS really shines, and the strong bass work then just adds up to it and makes it all round. All is done just damn skilled and the songwriting is grapping and full of moments that just keep up your attention and the rhythm structures as well as the pace of the songs in general, and so they are holding the attention of their listeners tight in hands and letting it not go again before song nomber 15 ran through. And then there are a lot of pretty different moments, like already mentioned before, may it be the rhythm arrangements, or suprising arrangements of the back up singings (like you can find both in their anthem "BOOTBOY"), so it's all here what you expect to get from a new STOMPER 98 record and it's done just phenomenal great and strong, and you get also even more and a big bunch of new fresh ideas, so what could you ask more for?!? Also great lyrics, criticism of the ruling politics and society you get as well as very strong authentic and sympathic Skinhead Way of Life lyrics, and the massive production sound is also just pure gold. The artwork is pure gold as well, beside the ugly cover artwork, but okay... maybe just a matter of taste but it's the most ugly and worst Crucified Skinhead picture that I have ever seen. But okay, maybe just a matter of taste ;-) ... Personal favorites of me are "KATEGORIE Oi!", "NUR NOCH DIESES EINE MAL", "BIS HIERHER", "BOOTBOY", "40 JAHRE", "GO BACK TO Oi! SCHOOL", "DEKADENZ" (great Off-Beat), "OCHSENSONG II" and the larger than life über-anthem "LÖWENHERZ". So check one of this songs out at first. Maybe... This is one of the very best albums of 2012 and by far the very best in German Oi! since a long while now and highly recommended to all the Skinheads, Bootboys, Oi! Punks and Oi! Oi! Oi! Die Hards outta there. I love this shit!!! Oi! Oi! Oi! (10 of 10 points)

STOMPER 98 - "ANTISOCIAL" (***Video***)

Hey guys, now just a little 'Videos' posting for you. A little video clip (at least we will call it so) to a still pretty new song by still one of the very best still active german Oi! bands, the mighty STOMPER 98. From left to right and from the ''keep it true and exclusively closed for the shaven heads'' Oi! and Skinhead elitist scene hipsters to the ''all and everyone is welcomed in our peacefully united subcultural world'' self proclaimed oh so open minded sell out nutjobs, nah, forget this crap, also forget the hype everyone is making around and because of this band, fuck it, either you like the music or not, and that should be the bottom line and not this bullshit cheap talk affairs. And I really like the music very very much. Stop to talk the talk, instead of it rather walk the walk. Fuckin' damn good band and their song here, "ANTISOCIAL" (no, not a SKREWDRIVER cover song) rocks okay, yeahr!!! Enjoy it and then sleep well and good night!!! Cheers & Oi!

Oi! Oi! Oi! music and solidarity!!!

STOMPER 98 - "IT'S CLASS PRIDE & IT'S ROCK'N'Oi!" ("D.S.S. Records"/"Contra Records"/"Sunny Bastards"; CD):
Here is a little appetizer for the new and upcoming record of this great german Oi! band, on concerts you could have got this CD without paying a dime, and some mailorder sell it for some very cheap and low prices, so after all it's a good deal. The CD comes in a very beauty designed fat paper sheat, and yes, THE 4 SKINS are greeting 'round the corner (if you know what I mean when you look at the cover picture). This CD contains six tracks, four from their last great albums, and two very old tracks that had been rerecorded by the band especially for their upcoming release "4 the Die Hards". They sound very good, and yes, I like this little CD very much. What else is there to say about it?!? You get everything that you want to get from STOMPER 98: Fancy Sax works, very good and rocking and hard hitting guitar playing, Phil TEMPLAR(S) is giving the songs that specific and strong Skinhead Rock & Roll beat, Sebi's vocals are strong as usual, so, yes, here you get it all. Tradition beats every trend!!! (At least sometimes...) (9 of 10 points)
