Don't look away just because this here is anyhow "Emo" Core music, instead of looking, turning away rather read on 'cause otherwise you would really miss a lot, and not 'only' the THEME OF LAURA...

THEME OF LAURA - "DEMO 2010"
("D.I.Y."; MP3-Download):
Never heard anything of the band before I've read a review of this release of them here on the outstanding http://www.aversionline.com/blahg/ blog some time ago from now. I've read there that the "DEMO 2010" of THEME OF LAURA was out just for some limited physical copies of about 100 pieces, and I thought to myself that it would be pretty much over with the possible chances to get one of these, I could imagine that all physical copies have already been sold out anyway... But I don't know it anyhow for sure, so i ya're interested then contact the band, a link will close this review. Anyway the band made the record also available as a free and official download in brilliant quality via their BandCamp site (and also this link you will find below closing this review, because after it's an official download link to me there are no problems with posting it here anyhow). So I read something about "Emo" and "Screamo" like it was somehow in the 1990's and so before it all became (and/or was made to) a bad name, hell yeahr, and the second I was reading  wordsI thought at the legendary and just great "JADE TREE RECORDS" label and all the great stuff that this label used to come up with back then in the days, and yes, I was up and away and ready and the download was mine. And what shall I say, this here is maybe nothing groundbreaking (but maybe it is, I'm currently still not so sure about it...), but it's definitely some brilliant stuff!!! Nothing less!!! Nothing else!!! A strong 1990's vibe to it, but still so damn fresh that it is miles away from becoming such some retro band crap that no one really needs, no, no, no, in no damn way. THEME OF LAURA are from France and are playing together as a trio, and now what do they give us here?!? That: Mostly pretty fast and very 'easy-catchy' pace of the songs, full throttle energy and dynamic non stop, and that all done in some damn good and strong way of songwriting that nothing goes in the wrong, the boring, the 'all-same-sounding' direction of things, nah, definitely not, the total opposite is the case with this songs here. All material is dominated by fast speeded, damn melodic and ctachy, very 'clear' (which means 'non-distorted') jingly and jangly guitars, giving us one hell of an awesome lead after the other, great, and that guitars create one hell of a great intense and grapping atmosphere, as well as a massive amount of energy of the songs and one hell of great melodies and harmonies, and also some great dynamic. Fantastic stuff!!! Then there's the rhythm section, massive stunning drumming and some nice 'buzzing' and 'vibrating' bass work really add a lot to the dynamic and the energy  of the songs, and the quick changes in rhythm, structure, pace and architecture of the songs really show what a great job the rhythm section and work is doing here, really pouring of the concrete from which on the guitars can shine and the leads and harmonies rise above all other things. This is really fantastic stuff!!! Point and fact!!! All is crowned by the through and through charismatic and just outstanding vocals, all done in between sometimes more sung and sometimes more spoken styles of singing (and it's really singing), and all done with some staccato like flavour and not to forget all the heart and the emotions, all the passion and the feelings as well as the power and force and energy that are making the vocals so damn great and present and just amazing. Great stuff!!! The only thing that's maybe missing here to make it even more better to lift on the throne of the highest grade is that here and there it could sometimes be done a little bit more floating but that's all, the rest is totally 'above the rest' (out there). The production sound is just great, pretty stripped down and all the elements of the music of THEME OF LAURA get enough room to come to life, and the artwork looks really cool. What's great (respectively what's great, too) is that all is also no 'arty' plastic bullshit, here everything feels so damn real and honest, fuck, that's just awesome!!! Emo at its very, very, very best!!! Also pretty 'punky/punkish' and some nice Hardcore and especially Melodic Core/Punk taste to it. Someone please give this guys a good and fair record deal very, very soon!!! Ah, to the lyrics of THEME OF LAURA I can't say anything, because I still don't speak french after all, so sorry guys. Anyhow, do yourself the giant favour and download this "DEMO 2010" of the THEME OF LAURA and/or get in contact with them and maybe there are also still floating some physical copies of it around and then you should grab one... or better two and send me one...!!! I hope that this band will come up asap with new and more material, and this really very, very soon!!! Hm, btw, is this band named after the "SILENT HILL" series?!? How-ever... Ah, just that you know also about the facts: Five songs in around twenty minutes, and my personal total favorites are "MAITRISER L'IMPERMANENCE" and "UN CONTE ORDINAIRE", stand-alone stuff, but also the other three tracks are just great and pure gold (if not platinum) stuff!!! Check it!!! Get it!!! Support them!!! Now!!! And if ya ask me, then this should be your next up order... (9 of 10 points)
